Has anyone heard of it or know what it is? Apparently Mazda is going to show it off at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This info is per rotarynews.com. I've never heard of it.

I thought people had talk about this. Are they the two black dark model that basically the same as the sport version except with different paint color and only 500 or 5000 will be built?

I don't think RX-8 Kuro is the 40th Anniversary RX-8 Concept they are referring to, if you read the RotaryNews post further on...

 

This sounds very similar to the M-Tune RX-8, nothing to freak out over.

 

It sounds like a different color interior with other body bolt on's and a label. Big deal.

If I were a betting man, I'd guess that the RX-8 has 2-3 years left in it and that we are about to see an exterior upgrade (and a couple of other things) to it within the next year. Anyone want to take that bet?

 

i thought after readign one article that its the H RX-8 with some interrior and exterior changes. but this article suggests it is a seperate vehicle from the H version

 

From the article it sounds like it will have the hydrogen re car, the kuro rx8, the 787B, an original us import cosmo sport and a "special edition Mazda RX-8 40th Anniversary Concept." The words concept here sounds interesting considering the kuro is already on sale and maybe we could see some preliminary design concepts for the new rotary in a few years. (crossing fingers). The new rotary engine that was mentioned in the mazda outlook document a few months back. Our luck it will probably be a simply new paint job with some special retro interier blah blah blah.

 

Can someone please send the painters and interior decorators home.... and rehire the engineers for some updating of this old horse before I don't care anymore?

Anyone remember that issue of Speed by caranddriver that showcased a Crystal Pearl White rx8, with a unique spoiler, with special wheels, will blue front fog-lights, and the slight sounds of a supercharger......

 

its interesting how the rx8 has stayd exactly the same appearance wise for so long when the imprezas have changed twice since the release of the wrx in 02

The 40th Anniversary badge looks like just above the fender vent, but too bad they did not take picture of it.

Give it a 6 year run we should see a new design for the 2010 MY. It's going to have some major competion by then. I hope they can cook up something good.

 

I am not so sure of a "new Design" for the RX-8, I think Mazda have some years to run with the 4 door freestyle body shell, yes, some minor "face lift" changes,
larger head lights, new rear tail lights, new interor and dash changes but the size and dimensions of the car won't change IMO for at least a 10 year run...

.I think it could be 1012.

 

I can agree with this, the fd was after all nearly a ten year production with minor front/rear face lifts and interior trims.

 

probably, but id rather just see them dump the 8 all together and make a new high performance 2 door RX (aka rx7).
