Another RX-9 rendering, I likes it!

Nice, but to get anything remotely close to those proportions in real life, they would have to have an utterly tiny car, shrunken down around 20" wheels or something, in order to keep the exaggerated flared fender look.
Personally I'd like to see Mazda draw a line in the sand, with regards to wheel size and the car's weight. Like, 17's and 2600 lbs. And style the car so it looks good with the 17's. You can put 17's on an 8, yes; but they look goofy. 17" tires are a fair bit cheaper too, it seems like tire prices start going up exponentially once you get past 17's.

oh, and that car DOES look bad *** though, all around. mazda should hire that guy immediately.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, IMO this has got to be one of the best concept on anything RX related.
The other concepts look good, but this concept looks FINE! Even on other car sites, many are pleased with this concept, this concept has definitely raised the brow of other car enthusiast , and even looking into buying a Mazda vehicle , where before they looked on by at Mazda. I am sure the Mazda anaylsyt are testing the waters and seeing what reaction this car stirs up. Sort of like Gm's Camaro, the new Camaro was never to see the light of day, it was just a concept study, a few car shows later the public cried to GM to build this car! And by next year this time , there will be tons of new Camaro's everywhere on the road. And personally I don't mind seeing the roads flooded with them, there good looking cars that will have the performance to match, I think GM has a winner!
And from the reaction from this board and others that i visited , the reaction is positive! Even one person said that Mazda would be stupid not to build this car , the design is a winner in many peoples eyes. Its up to Mazda to give it the GO!

trust me, concepts never start out as crappy photochops, designs come from the ground up on paper, from sketch to layout to line studies to miniture clay models, full size claymodels, prototype to production. this is someones speculation of what the rx9 could look like, from a design perspective it sucks, all it has is a aggressive sports car stance with some big wheels and scoops, the lines do nothing for each other, the wheel arches dont match with the body, the windows is taken from a design in the late 90s, the wheels are out of proportion with the cabin, i can go on forever with this
anyways, i'd much rather see the furai make it into production, now that would be hawt

^Friend, if you can't see past the technical issues you are consumed with you will miss the whole point. This car has a great sexy look to it and alot of us think Mazda NEEDS to build something as close to it as possible.
It's an exotic for the common Joe, exactly what future design for sports cars should be.
Mazda builds good looking cars so I just hope they pay attention to the fans out there like GM did.

But are we......
I remember back in 1987/88 era when i was a kid and seeing concept picks of the next Z in my dads Road and Track magazine and thinking to myself , no way they would ever build it , its way to exotic and it looks like a smaller sleeker lambo. 1990 Nissan built the next Z , and it wasn't to far off from the concept art. Back in 1990 i remember seeing concept picks of the next RX-7 and thinking the same thing, Mazda build a sports car like that, something that looks better than Ferrari 348 at the time, not a chance.... 1992 rolls around and Mazda introduced to the world one of the most beautiful sports cars to grace this planet.
Fast forward 15 years later and i am reliving my past all over. ANd i have a strong hunch that Mazda will build this car. It may not look exacty like it, but i am sure it won't be to far off from the target.
So yeah i am one of those dreamers whose dreams became a reality many times over , and not to mention i got to own one of my chidhood dream cars.... a '94 Twin turbo Z. Soon to own this baby too...

Wow thats a nice concept too... looks like a updated Cosmos, even a hint of Silvia S15 i see in the design. Very clean and not as radical as the red RX concept, but has a unique upscale coupe look to it..... if Mazda gave us this RX concept I would buy it.

Anybody else notice that Mazda is now using that "shield angular air inlet" design for all there cars now? I like it, it gives Mazda that brand recognition like the way BMW has the kidney style grills, Mercedes uses the tristar in a circle in all the grills, Audi has that oval air inlet with the 4 overlapping circles. Not many other japanese brands do this....Mazda uses this brand marquee in there most simple cars all the way up to the furai -spelling. Nice.....

Having driven a V8 VE Commodore (the car the Camaro is based on) before I bought the 8 I can tell you it will be pretty good -but;
The 8 was cheaper and better.
I can't see the Camaro getting under 1600kg. Compared to the 1300 of the RX-8 it will be a heavy car but it should be fun.
I will take either the red or black RX-9 thanks.
