AutoExpress: Used buyer's guide: Mazda RX-8

Used buyer's guide: Mazda RX-8 | Auto Express

"Sporty coupes don’t come much more stylish. The RX-8 looks fabulous and is great to drive. It gets through fuel and oil at quite a rate, however..."

It has interesting mention of frequent points of failure in the photo gallery.

Shows Auto Express dont actually think about what theyre writing;

The Mazda’s door arrangement is stylish, but makes rear access a pain. To get in and out of the back, the front doors have to be opened and the seatbelts unlatched, so the rear doors can be opened.

Er, pardon? In a conventional TWO door coupe, the front door still needs to be opened and then the driver or front passenger has to get OUT as well!

Why do so called 'motoring journalists' keep thinking of it as a four door car? Just like the seats in most sports cars are refered to as '2+2', so should the doors in an RX8.

Is the bit about trim correct? That makes it sound like it was the 2 power options and everything else was just optional. Unless I'm misunderstanding trim, I thought there were trims like GT, sport, etc.

Those special edition versions weren't available in North America. Just the R3.

Europe never bothered with trim levels, the only options were leather and satnav, and the engine choice of course.

Oh ok. I guess I never realized that. I thought they had trim levels but they were just a little different. Oh well. I guess it never applied to me anyway.

I never realized the RHD cars still had the uneven floor in the foot well. Makes sense, but it looks like it would take a bit of getting used to.
