Autos.msn.com RX-8 Reviews

http://autos.msn.com/userreviews/rev...m=All&lang=All

Thought you guys may find this interesting. There are 20+ reviews on a car that hasn't been delivered yet. Wouldn't be so bad if they were all positive.

I just have to laugh at this. Plus, I hate these types of consumer reviews. I totally ignore MSN consumer ratings. There is no one there that has a clue to moderate such utter bullshit.

Did you read the critiques of the three that gave it the low scores?

1. First one - Owner from San Dimas, Ca. Rated it a 2.8. Owned the car for less than a year. (Yeah right). Previously owned 2 RX-7's, now "owns" the RX-8. Complains about the RX-8's cramped driver leg room. And he owned a RX-7, and the leg room is better? Plus he complains about the RX-8's poor brakes. Also says the gas pedal sticks out too much in relation to the brake to prevent quick toe adjustments during driving. "Heel and Toe" obviously wasn't a problem with the Kurasawa's time attack at Lugana Seca. It is obvious this "dissatisfied" owner has never driven the RX-8.

2. Second one - Patrick from Denver. Rated it a 2.0. Says he has owned it for 6 months. Another liar. Says he is 6'4, and is complaining about the snug interior. Says the engine growls and kicks when pushed hard, and the suspension is way to soft for this kind of sporty car. Says he is hauling around his friends in the Automatic and it doesn't have enough power. Not only was he lying, IF he did own an auto, he is probably 350lbs to go along with that 6'4 frame. Plus he would be hauling his 3, just as large Coors drinking Colorado red-neck buddies, trying to climb Pike's Peak. No wonder he has no power. And he would be bottoming out the suspension because of his fat ***. He'll need Ford's new 6.0L Power StrokeŽ Diesel to haul his lard *** around, and not Mazda's Renesis :D (Nothing personal against those that live in Colorado from my last statements).

3. Third one - Driving Expert from San Diego. Rated it a 1.5. Says it has owned it less than a year. Third liar. Says it's rear wheel drive drives more like a front wheel drive due to its disproportionate weight distribution. Yeah right 50/50 is disproportionate. Also says ride is as harsh as a 18 wheeler and the handling is not much better than a Buick Electra his grandpa owned 20 years ago. Last he says the fun and excitement is totally absent, and in it's place you have a boardy and plushy combination of lackluster handling and ride. Add to it the loud engine noise and pathetic gas mileage unique to rotary engine, there is nothing special abou this snail paced, characterless tin-box. He sure doesn't sound like a driving expert to me.

ALL THREE of these idiots are nothing but trolls. It's a shame that there will be some people that will believe their bullshit as truths.

if you notice in the middle of the individual reviews pages there's a link for "is this review offensive." i provided some feedback. maybe if they take enough heat the dirtbags will get removed?

I'll play 'Devil's Advocate' and suggest that maybe the people who claim to own the car have been 'Rev-it-up' drivers. There have been several RX-8s around the US for months after all.

More likely it's other manufacturers trying to taint the image!

However we were unable to drive these pre-production vehicles, and no one has 'owned' one yet.

You misunderstand me: I mean the drivers charged by Mazda with ferrying the cars around the country and demonstrating them. Hey, I don't actually believe this idea I was just going with the flow!

There is power in numbers

One thing we can do as a group to offset the three or four MAJOR LIARS is to all post a freview with a score of 10 out of 10. That way with enough posts, we will affect the overall score. I susppect these lairs are idiots that probably will never own a car much less an RX-8. Sign up with a 10!

I just reported all the liars with that offensive button, pointing out that they need to reset their little ratings poll there. Maybe if enough of us complain they'll do something about it.

Yeah, that would be the quick-fix. But, I wouldn't like to do that. We'd be as guilty as them, lying that we drove it, and our opinions would be biased as well - in the opposite direction. Plus, that would probably create more people trying to taint the RX-8 image.

When it comes out and people drive it, I'm sure that RX-8 would rate in the high 7-10, so I'm not worried about that.

The RIGHT thing to do is mark it "offensive", and try to get whoever moderates the consumer ratings to see that those posters are lying. Hopefully those critiques will be removed.

I did the same thing as soon as I noticed this. Maybe it will help, maybe it won't.

I agree I hate these kind of open internet "reviews". Don't people have anything better to do than post bogus opinions and reviews on movies or products they have never seen or owned?
They could be on some car forum complaining about not getting a preorder gift, or the tires that are on their cars, or not getting an E-mail update let alone the actual car. :D

They were telling the truth about owning the car for less than a year. A lot less, like 365 days less!

Well, I put in my review! Hopefully, our good reviews will negate the ones from those peckerheads.

Since the overall rating is now up above 9 on the MSN site, I would have to say, Mission accomplished. But now I feel it is skewed in the other direction.

The same thing is going on with the Mazda6. In just a few days, enough false reviews and bad ratings have been posted to drop the overall rating down to 6.7, as of last night. They're clearly lying: Ex....one "owner" claimed his groceries are crushed by the 6's trunk hinges. Hmmmm. Wonder would he be interested to know the 6 doesnt USE hinges; it has struts.

I dont get folks like this. I mean, I hate a LOT of cars out there, but Im not about to waste my time writing a bunch of BS reviews to make the car look bad.

I think someone mentioned something earlier about "the competition". Could be dumbarse salesmen or other employees that will sit and slander a competitor's product on the internet to scare away a few extra idiots.

On the Canadian version of that MSN site (MSN.ca Auto) there is a review in which their staff writer gave the RX-8 a 9.3 out of 10! Note that the GS & GT packages are slightly different than the US, and prices he mentions at the bottom line are in Canadian dollars.

Just checked this out. Why would so many people have it in for the RX-8? Some of the same negative 1.0 reviews are posted 2-3 times!
