MazdaSpeed-tuned Miata to begin production late this year
The next MazdaSpeed-tuned car, the Miata, begins production in December in Japan and arrives in U.S. showrooms soon after that, as early as January. It will carry a Japanese turbocharger underhood.
Stick to it
Mazda officials tell us they’re sold out of 2003 Mazda 6s with V6 engines and five-speed manual transmissions. That’s because of a bigger-than-anticipated rush for the highest-powered 6 with a manual and lesser interest in automatic four-cylinders. Who says sticks are dead? The 2004 V6-powered 6 with five-speed manual goes on sale in July, without much of a price hike over 2003.

My dealer told me Monday night they have been told that as much as 70% of the 2004 Mazda 6s will be V6 sticks.
Shortly after the realease of the 2003 Mazda 6 the same dealer told me Mazda was only doing 7 to 10% V6 sticks with the full sport package. And that was what most everyone was asking for.

My gf just purchased a Mazda6 with a stick. The dealer had to look all over to get one and go a few hours to get it from another dealer.
I guess the under demand for the smaller automatic explains the financing special on the 6. Special financing on all Mazda 6 vehicles w/o the sport package....

I lucked out when I got my (manual V6) M6. It was specially ordered by another customer, but he backed out when the car came in because he didnt like the color. I just happened to be out at the lot that day and was the first one to even drive it.

I have very reliable information (just can't tell) that the Mazdaspeed Miata w/turbo and 190hp will be here in December. The power/weight ratio puts in direct competition with the S2000. And it will likely be faster than the RX-8, too!
