The stock '87 TII was released with a Mazda spec'ed time of 0-60 in 6.8 sec. I'll take 6.0 in the 8 and be a happy camper.

 

Same here. Mind you if Mazda releases it at 6.0, then the magazines should put it under 6. Hell, the 330i does it in 6.0 AFTER the magazines got their hands on it, so I think that should bode well for the 8

 

If the actual values are under 6.0 I'll be extremely happy.

 

The Rx-8 will have to make it to 60 in second gear, I hope, to achieve the spectacular 0-60 time.

I hope that first gear is nice and short (30-35 mph maximum), so all you have to do is put the 8 in first and floor it while letting the clutch out, while idling. With a torsen differential in back, you shouldn't get any kind of wheel spin. (good for tire wear) A quick shift into second, and a 0-60 of 6 flat, then another quick shift into 3rd, and then slam the stick into fourth (hoping that fourth will take you to 100 mph, in less than 15 seconds)

There was a previous thread that had a link to an article that mentioned the rx-8 speeds at 9000 rpm. I bookmarked the thread as (http://www.rx8forum.com/showthread....14964#post14964 ) but unfortunately that thread is no longer valid? I believe it was one of the threads that later got moved to the "rx-8 media news" section but I can no longer find the article. Below is the gearing info if my math is correct:

2nd gear....... 65 ............... approx 10.783
3rd gear........ 99 ............... approx 7.134
