Paulie, no problem!
I always get my Car & Driver issue WAAAAYY later in the mail, than what comes out on the newstand.
It's almost as if the guys in the main postal distribution center are hanging out reading my issue and don't put it back into the "flow of things" until they AND their buddies are finished reading it!

you guys, i was reading about 7's and 8's when i came upon a site that was explaing a rumor of the next RX-7. they stated that the 7 will have a single turbo 3 rotor that pushed 320hp and that it will have 6 trim levels: Base, Touring, Enthusiast, R1, R2, and a street legal 430hp R3. of course i dont buy it but it would be nice to dream that the next 7 will be a turbo 3 rotor!!!
oh and for those who dont know much about the history of rotary cars and dont do their home work or pay attention:...the rx-8 is not a successor to the rx-7, the rx-7 is a pure sports car, while the 8 is a SPORTS SEDAN. the rx-7 will come but not for a few years .
i forgot the site but they are probably just speculating and telling their dreams of the 4th generation 7.
oh and for those who think that the first generation 7's 79-85 chassis code is FA3S and FB3S YOU ARE COMPLETELY WRONG. the code for 1st gens is only SA22C. the only reason why the 2nd and 3rd are similar is because the 3rd gens chassis is a revised and made more capable but still have body lines from previous generations.

well you could 'retrofit' anything. (with money )
But there will likely be many big differences, which might make it more expensive than an aftermarket setup (which genreally puts out more power)...

When completing the financials of my car this past sat. My salesman had mentioned some details he had gathered at a conference he was at in ohio this past fri (the day before) Anyway, my memory is real sketchy on this but since you guys are so interested here goes what I can remember. (Keep in mind, dates are the most sketchy)
1st - Mazda will release a MS 6 or 3 (I can't remember)
2nd - (2006?)Mazda will release a RX-7 convertible. (It will be an 8 without the rear doors, they'll be solid, thus making a 2 door convertible. Further, this appears to be the ONLY Rx-7, if that's what they'll call it, that will be released. No Coupe.)
3rd - (2008?)Mazda will release a supercharged RX-8, MS edition? The superchager is supposed to have something to do with oil....oil cooled, oil driven? Not sure. The salesman was talking about it being oil driven. He wasn't at all sure how, really couldn't even fathom, but he said they told him something along the lines of oil driven since they didn't want to sacrafice any more torque from the already low torque on the engine.
Oh, and he said no 3 rotor design b/c there is not enough room for a 3 rotor.
Now, that said, before you guys go shooting down my salesman, keep in mind, I trust him, and he doesn't BS. He's a good school buddy of my uncle, so he's not blowing smoke up my a**. Besides that, he prefaced himself in saying he himself wasn't sure, but this is what he was told at the conference. Also keep in mind, he knows a thing or 2 about these cars, he's been selling them for something like 13 year and ownes an 8 himself. So...take the above info as you will, but keep in mind, its already prefaced with the fact that this is what he's been told, and is not to be a difinative source of what is for sure....

But we have to step back into the peripheral port, because you can't do a side port on the center of a 3 rotor. I don't know how not having a side port in the center but having one on both sides would affect things... Seems weird. Probably possible, but weird.
