Facelifted RX8 revealed!!!!

indeed. gay nudity needs to end for rx8club. in other news, mazda loses the faith of some of their most fierce supporters with a shocking display of clashing design elements. i really dont like it at all. so when god forbid my 8 ***** out and i dont have the resources to rebuild my engine, they better have a 7 or 9 out.

I JUST GOT BACK FROM MY DEALER, I went to get some info and put a deposit on a RS, they still are not taking deposits(obviously) but already have a list of 9 pre-order, and some owners have left 3 cars there to be sold, I was specting to be #1 in the list but Im #10 I never expected that! I saw the list some of the people in it are friends of mine im calling them to verify this, one of the cars is a blue 2007 that the owners has less than 3 month with it!
AMAZING!!
I think this car is going to sell very well, most people on the dealer told me the refresh looks much better when shown the pics, this are normal non rotor heads

I think it's funny how every Tom, Dick and Sally is coming here out of the woodworks and complaining. But I guess complaining is natural and everyone has a right to their opinion, it's not set in stone.
The change really isn't that much different. It needed a refresh to look more grownup and less juvenille and yet more agressive at the same time w/o saying
"I'm just a speed racer".
It will sell more, which is sorely needed.

For every current owner who doesn't like it, there will be happily be another non current owner who will take your place, and think it looks just fine and dandy
and keeps the spirit alive.

The car has lost it's happy smile....it look more demented now...lol
Glad they didn't change it too much, but I still prefer the looks of the current ones.

If Mazda is looking to define their brand by making all of their cars have similiar features, and is moving the RX-8 closer to conformity verses uniqueness, it could have a large negative impact on the demand side of new RX-8's - which is something they don't need.
I agree, I'm almost certain that Mazdaspeed Concept will not come to NA.
Mazda has shown Mazdaspeed Concepts of the RX-8 for the last 3 years at the Tokyo Auto Salon. Each one sported a different body kit. None of them made their way outside of Japan.
At this year's show there's a Mazdaspeed concept vehicle for just about every car in Mazda's line up.

OK, even though this is my 3rd post in a row, I've been reading this thread from day 1 and haven't missed one post, and I have a question that I haven't seen yet. Does the update to the front end have anything to do with the new US front end pedestrian crash specifications? I don't think that is the actual name for it, but I have been reading various car magazines that talk about that requirement with new 2009's. I think some of them needed to make their front ends a little higher. Does anyone know anything more about that requirement and how it would impact the 8?

Tokyo Auto Salon
[EDIT]
Aww, nevermind. Wolverine beat me to it. And I think he has a much nicer camera. I pretty much took the same shots.
[/EDIT]
It's midnight and I'm way to sleepy to check this whole thread, but I went to the Tokyo Auto Salon show and saw the new RX8 and the concept rx8 which looked better. I also snapped some pictures of some guys taking the new rotary apart, but my camera ran out of battery before I could get some close up shots.
Anyway, anyone interested or is there another thread were this is being covered?
PS At the very least I am going to post a picture of the seats in the concept car tomorrow morning. The picture I have sucks because the ones I saw in the car had a carbon shell while the ones on display were just, idk, plastic and foam- maybe kevlar.

The 2008 is already on the dealer lot. I believe they stopped production of the older rx-8 already, so what you describe is nothing more than 10 people wanting to place orders. Nothing abnormal or amazing about it.
PS: the guy trading in his 3 month old rx-8 is a dipshit.

I think kartsman7 has a point about the tail lights. The angle is different and the vertical lines drawn in don't go to the same point on the lock. Better views will tell.
I wouldn't hold my breath on the Recaro's. No side airbags = no US market.
As facelifts go, this one's not too bad. A facelift is always going to be somewhat incongruous since it's melding newer styling elements with a 7 year old design. I just hope the LED's look better than the lite-brite Infiniti lights and the only thing I can't forgive is the corporate, uber-ugly steering wheel (and maybe the low rear reflectors).

The point I was trying to make was that some people did not realize that the pics of the blue car are all RS model pics and were criticizing features that may only apply to such (Perhaps), not to mention, if it met all of their expectations some of the loudest critics wouldn't be lining up anyhow. Just the nature of forums.
I think they did a decent job of modernizing and refreshing without alienating too many people. I'm not a fan of the steering wheel and other minor things but I'm generally pleased with their changes, of course; having not seen the plain jane models.
Paul.

The Wheels
I showed my roommate the pictures and he said he loved the look of the new 8 and would definetly want to get one so that he could have one too. He especially liked th e wheels which I wouldn't say I was that big on.
I know some of you guys are saying they are great because they have rotary symbols designed into them. However he pointed out something funny these wheels were already on the 2005 Altima SER's. Take a look at the picture.

Oh ya and i really like the French peoples pictures of that Mazda speed version, someday i would love to trade up to that when my 8 gets alot older. Those wheels are gorgeous and the styling is perfect because all the parts complement eachother.

Its normal to put in orders for a new car, especially to get specific options.

Very well put, it's like Mazda opened the ricers cook book and started to randomly install parts with no over all goal. The out side is done in a similar manor. The original car had a nice theme running through it. The seats are sweet but beyond that send them back to the drawing board.
What's odd about it is that it's become a mishmash of random colors and elements. It doesn't flow well.
the interior now has red stitching, piano black parts, silver colored plastic parts, three different shades of gray, and lighter black panels too. The old interior was much more uniform and looked like it was designed that way. The new one really looks like a parts bin.
I still wish I had the red/black leather instead of black/black.
