superb,

a few "questionables" but generally a very good review from by the sounds of it a neutral.

Luv the comment about the RX7 driver.

excellent review methinks. Dont worry about the downers - looks like the hi-power sorts some of them out, besides reading that, I thought he thinks the rx8 is the best of the bunch below....

The sunvisors don't look/feel very good (I dislike them) but actually work quite well. I did not notice any accelerator ****** or engine surge - I probably got used to it after the first few days if it was there at all. The suspension does 'clonk' sometimes when pulling away from rest or moving from reverse to 1st, but my car is still in the break-in period (600 miles) and it may settle down over time - at all other times it is fine. And you don't have to rev the hell out of the engine to go up a hill (in the high-power car at least) - I typically leave it in 4th or 5th and under 6000rpm.

All the 'pros' are true.

Thanks for that. I think that the car the reviewer drove was part of a press day in Wales that Mazda organised a few weeks ago. Chances are he was referring to quite steep hills (1:10 or steeper) but nevertheless my 1.4L Rover has no problem with gradients so I don't see why a more powerful RX-8 would. I suppose he means that you DO have to downshift whereas in a more torquey car you wouldn't. Fine by me.

The interesting thing is that the 231 HP Europe version is getting similar performance numbers to the 247 HP US version.

The best 0-60 time I have seen on a US production car has been 6.4s and that is what the UK newspaper got.

hmmm....
