they arnt going to tow your car from your home to swap out your engine Umbra.
I know that, I just want the flash, not a reman engine. If they want to replace the engine I want to be able to take the car somewhere else to have it done right at my cost with a new engine instead (with a few extras).

I also don't want some bonehead tech driving my car and scraping the front on a driveway or messing with the suspension settings, or getting the parchment leather dirty/stained.

mods warranty blah blah blah. a recall is performed on every car regardless of the ownership warrrnty status etc of the vehicle. unless of course the recall is say for tires and you have already changed your tires. you dont get new ones cause you dont have the bad ones. etc etc

yeah i suspect so- but of course the dealer might balk at it and then he would involve the DCSM and at which case it would become an issue you would take to the NHTSA. BUT they would be bound im thinking to at least do the testing side.

With another 45K miles and 2 years of warranty, why would you *not* want a replacement engine if the tests detect that you have a problem? You're just delaying the failure and if the problem *is* there your engine eventually will fail.

Chances are very high that your engine is fine, since looks like you do a lot of high-performance driving and not a lot of cruising. Also there is probably a big difference between talking about the difference of someone who's been cruising in hot climates for 10K+, whereas you haven't probably cruised nearly that much. So even if you experienced the problem to some degree, you probably didn't experience it enough to damage the engine.

I wonder if we can get this testing done while we are at SevenStock?

Some of us are looking for any reason to take the engine to 9k.

And maybe we can get answers then to the 'why', instead of guessing (sure these are pretty sound guesses, but experts have been surprised before).

They said you can but you run the risk of voiding your warrenty. But if you buy the MazdaSpeed Chinchilla you'll be fine its those aftermarket ones they arnt sure of. Oh also Zoom44 might kill me but I'll let this leak out... If the single gerbil works out great they are going to come out with a 3 gerbil motor.

Why a 3 gerbil motor? they are soo small you could easily get a family of 6 stuffed in there completed with cheeze bribes for advanced performance when activated.

They will eat too much food and their emissions will be horrible.

They sell plugs that are inserted into every other gerbil to improve emissions. This solution tends to produce a squeeking noise though. As for consumption, the best thing to do is just dont feed them. They are cheap to replace.

FYI- Vehicles that come in for the recall and have FI installed: If the engine is found to need replacement, Mazda will be handling it on a case by case basis. If Mazda believes that the failure was caused by aftermarket modifications such as FI, you will be denied a new engine as a result. Also, the recall includes a reflash which will not be able to be performed on FI vehicles because of e-manage etc...

Have you heard any updates on what 06s are affected? I know the info is supposed to come out, according to my dealer, anywhere from this Friday though next Wednesday, but I won't be around to get it.

Wow, your *** is really well-spoken.
Wanna explain how the E-Manage would stop them from doing a PCM flash?

I would, however, sugest that one remove the turbo system from your car if you are getting an engine replacement since there is no guarantee that they will reinstall it correctly or even completely.
You may not get youg manifold and turbo back. I theory, a dealer could say that your intake was non-functional and replace it as well.

your car is affected if your vins ends with last 4 digits under 1000 (as read in this section), or if your color was or still is silver.

Thanks for the compliment, I think...Dont some reflashes mess with e-manage calibrations? I could be wrong. Mazda techline seemed to be concerned with it. And yes, I would definitley remove your turbo systems. As it is not the dealers responsibility to even deal with removing it or reinstalling it.
