They'll give you a new one if you need it and then you can go back to your unlit, wood paneled basement and play some more WoW with your d*ck in your hand, chatting to your gamies about how your can't believe how sucky Mazda is until 4am.
J*sus f*ck!

For whoever wanted the news channels with websites, a search of Google news gave me KWWL-IA and WDIV-MI with the story and link. I'll post them in a minute.

This all reminds me of the Monty Python song--"I'm so Worried". Only in North America!
For anybody with a turbocharger on the motor---forget it and forget a new catalytic converter.

the dealers have not recieved the info on what mazda is going to do or warranty at this point.... hotter climate dealers will have this info first that seems to be where the problem is worse... south east area wont have info until at least aug 28 so we dont know if turbo engines, cold air intake, neon lights, neon washer nozzels,or coffee can exhaust are excluded mazda has not informed the dealers other than that......some people that are posting realistic concrete info..... the rest is speculation and b/s................... if any of you confirmed madza guys can offer any thing else for clairifacation please do.

So the new flash increases the amount of oil injected into the engine along with the fuel. That being the case, I have two questions:
1. Will this increase carbon build-up within the engine?
2. Will this increase tail-pipe smoot?

OK, I have a long 1100 mile roundtrip roadtrip in 2 1/2 weeks. If I am unable to get the reflash/recall done before the trip, how should I drive on the Interstates? Should I avoid certain RPMs and cruise control? Or should I drive like a maniac, constantly varying speeds and running at 7K rpm the whole way? lol Seriously, I'm confused.

I've had the problem since May of 2005. My car has been at the dealership for over a month now and I got the call today that they will be replacing the engine for the third time (OG engine - 33,500 miles , reman #1 - 50 miles, reman #2 - 30 miles) and it'll be at least a couple of weeks. I didn't get a chance to verify if it was because of the recall but I have a feeling that it is, I'll ask the service guy tomorrow morning since we kept playing phone tag. At least I'm cruising in an Infiniti G35, it's the 4-door sedan but still better than the Explorers I've had for a month.
A very hopeful,

The people who have no issues who are panicking... the sky isn't falling. But like I said... the problem is... is it REALLY fixed?

What they're doing should be given positive PR, what I'm seeing here looks like a backlash against it. They can't win with some of you...

Some people are thinking "****... if I have bought a G35c/350Z/GTO/Mustang GT, I very likely wouldn't be having my engine replaced (for some the 4th or 5th time)" and you have to admit that this line of thought has some validity. Yeah... it's good of Mazda to step up to the plate and take the hit for replacing all these motors, but at the same time this is business, competition, etc... and a competing car likely would not have this issue.
NOTE: I am more playing devil's advocate here than REALLY giving my own opinion...

after the recall is issued those of you that have real concerns go to the dealer with a level head and present your concens and have your vehicle fixed with the white glove treatment. its one thing to go in to the dealer informed buts its another to go in like a know it all jack off. the dealer can not garentee this is the perfect fix for all rx8's but it is the latest fix from mazda.

Speaking of design change... especially seeing how well pre-mix worked for you and past comments made by RG... I don't know why Mazda keeps on insisting on using e-shaft/crank oil for combustion chamber injection. Why the hell don't they separate the two?! They could then easily run 5w20 synthetic to lube the e-shaft and use 2-stroke oil or dino oil (recommend 2 stroke, but say that dino is ok too) in a separate 2 or so quart reservoir for combustion chamber injection. It would seem to be a possible solution to me... but what do I know...

I still remember this thread, one of the first I read when I found this forum... Some points sound eerily relevant.

A few months ago I drove from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. About half way there, I experienced a powerloss and had to add a lot of throttle to keep up at 80mph. By the time I reached Las Vegas it took full throttle to maintain 40mph. I talked to a tech at Mazda Las Vegas and they told me they had no fix, so I drove back at night, but the temperature was stil 100 degrees and I had some power loss. Since I drove about 300 miles with a powerloss and about 20 miles with severe powerloss, which is caused by insufficent oil, could I presume I'm a good candidate for an engine swap?
