Last month during mu break in period I had to take my sister to the airport. (240 Miles round trip) I spent most of the trip on highway driving 65-80MPH in 6th (3-3.5kRPM)
With the low RPM/light throttle news on this recall... Did I just F**CK up my engine???!!!!
BTW I'm a 2006 model with a build date of MAR/APR2006 (unsure will have to go to the garage to check)

Hey Zoom44 do you think we could get something setup where moderators can update a bulletin or something to keep people informed of the 'facts'. I know right now it's pretty much all speculationi, but it would be nice t have something organized to look at as things are revealed.

Plus this thread is Gi-Normous. I didn't get a chance to go through it, and it could end-up being huge.

Just a thought.

Agreed. Of all threads I've read here over the past two years this one has always stuck in the back of my mind. Judge Ito/Mr PnP seems pretty prophetic.

Maybe the remans will be ported and polished.

I am not panicking since she runs well, nice and strong, and without any undue drama.
I just REALLY like this car, and care deeply for it so I want to be able to keep it for a very long time.

OK. MEA CULPA for liking my RX-8

10-4, back to Orange.

Your EPA will get their knickers in a twist....but I'd recommend a heavier multigrade for those in warmer climates in future. Your dealer probably can't legally tell you to do it, but I can.

Thanks for all the info and updates guys. let's just wait next week when the letters come out and the recalls are done. This thread is rivalling the "Lack of girls w/ rx8's" thread in the photo gallery

If I could pull a Jay and Silent Bob act by visiting various people who have posted here and smack them, I would. This thread is so pathetic.

I can't believe I just read through all 32 pages of this thread, 31 of which were occupied with everyones useless bullshit opinion. This thread needs to be locked and replaced with one that has just the facts.

I went through all the pages! It sure took a lot of clicking to find the "useful" information.

I guess we'll see what happens Friday.

From what I have read, I sure hope that my 11/05 build with 11.5K miles doesn't need a new/reman engine. I live in the SF Bay Area so high temps are certainly not a problem.

Either way, I will make sure to rev my car to 8K-9K at least once everytime I drive the car and will most likely start using 5W-30 in my car from this point. It has been fed regular oil from the start.

Want me to find a iv drip for you man? hehe.

Well I guess some of us going to a Car Show in NH this weekend will have plenty to talk about.

Also quick question, I know in the past they used to vin stamp the blocks of american cars(or put a small metal plate on it).. do they still do this today? If so will this mess up cars matching numbers. Yes I watch to much Barret Jackson but since I'm unsure I feel its a legit question ><!

I'm over 53K and running strong with alomst no problems. I did encounter the CEL after leaving it on cruise control for a long time last winter. At first they thought it was my MOP but then they decided a really just needed a reflash (back in March) and it hasn't happened again since. I do not like the prospects of a remanufactured enging. I hope mine passes the test.
