Am I pretending too much? Why should I get a rebuilt engine when I paid for a new one. If I am in that situation, I'll fight it until somebody responds.

But remember, your engine is no longer new. Are you having driveability problems right now? If not, dont worry about the engine issue. You would know if you needed a new engine.

Then Mazda would have a cut and dry case for your turbo mod causing the problem.
I think a better course of action is to get real friendly with the dealership and have them perform the vacuum test first. If you pass then you go right out the door with no other work performed on your 8. The flash that will come with this was not designed for turbo 8’s so until you know what it might do to your turbo 8 you should stay away from it. That is just my opinion.

If possible and or feasible for the owner of a modified 8 then I'd take off any major mod. Less for them to complain about and lessen the likely hood your car is taken for a joy ride.

Well... I just don't know what to think anymore. I'm sorry for what I'm about to say, but I think that the Rx8 is not really worth our money. There have been nothing but problems. I know this forum is probably not the place to start complaining about this car, but let's face it. If all of you will take the love for the Rx8 and emotions aside (I do love this car also), you can realize that Mazda was not ready to mass produce this vehicle due to a LOT of technical deficiencies with the "re-birth" of the rotary engine (RENESIS). No car in 2006 should have to go through all this trouble. And now it is costing Mazda a lot of money to correct the problem that should never had happened. The RX8 was not ready yet.

What Mazda should have done is produce a very small quantity of "prototype" or "testing" vehicles and test them, and continue to test them to find all the bugs and fix them. After all the fixes (or at least most of them), then and only then Mazda should consider going into production with this car. What they had created is a bad reputation for all rotaries and possibly Mazda as a company as well.

Well, I'll shut up now..... I'm sorry if I had offended somebody, but it was truly not my intention. I am just upsed at all this. Maybe I should just have a couple of shots and enjoy my car to it's fullest while it lasts.

Oh yeah my dealer is still clueless to this upcoming recall or even a flash.. can't wait to print up something offical and bring it in to them when its released. If he ask's "where did you find that" I'll just tell him "Same place you found the TsB for my headlights" (others wont get that joke but otherside will lol).

My car has 22k on it at the moment, would they give me the information on the engine that I received, for example, the mileage etc. And if it were the case that I received an engine with more miles then I have on my current engine shouldn't I be compensated for the deminished value of my car from receiving this "new" engine?

There isn't any real news on the subject and most dealers know less than us.
Yes, its rediculous to have spent $30K+ in a car that will probably have a catastrophic failure........

Its rediculous that this is a cumulative effect, and that if they dont catch something now, doesnt mean it wont happen later.

Its rediculous that the resale of the car will drop by $$$$.

Not sure how much cash you have........

But sorry, everyone has a right to be worried about this.
