They're all right here: https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...60&postcount=7 (it's one of the two dealer letters.)

A rental car may be provided to the customer if eligible based on the terms and conditions of the Rental Car Reimbursement Program, policy 12.0. Rental car reimbursements are available only on 2001 and newer vehicles within the mileage and time limitations under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
So maybe not everyone gets a rental?

But then theres...

After completing the RX8 Voluntary Emission Recall 4206F and prior to returning the customer’s vehicle, please clean the interior and exterior of the customer vehicle and top off the fuel tank. Until March 1, 2007, Mazda will reimburse the dealer per the guidelines below for these tasks to ensure an ideal return delivery of the customer vehicle.

Until March 1, 2007, Mazda is offering two rental plans:

1. Dealer participates in the MCode Program and supplies the customer with a CX-7 to drive OR supplies the customer with a Mazda loaner vehicle from an outside rental agency while their car is in the dealership where Mazda will pay up to $50.00 per day

2. Dealer uses outside rental service where Mazda will reimburse the normal rental reimbursement of up to $30.00 per day.

Further details will be provided by Mazda in a separate communication.
Zoom, have you seen any 'further details' yet as in that liast line above?

They shouldn't be stingy with rental cars. As soon as they file you in as being there for the recall, they get money for a rental. The enterprise (dealer-owned) at my dealer knew to charge a full $50 per day for the mazda6 I got even though it should have been 29. It sounds like you're being ripped off.

Ha you guys are going to laugh at this ****! I dropped my car off today at the dealer because it needed a new air bag harness. They are also checking for irratic idle issues, stalling problems, and my electrontics along with the whole car, will shut off when I'm driving. I've had 2 reman. engines put into my car this year, about 4 weeks ago was the most recent.

Anyway, the service manager told me about the recall that is coming out. He said quote: "You have a new engine so we won't need to run any tests on your car for the recall". I just smiled and thought to myself about how I will be bringing the car to another dealer for this recall. What an ***, who says that???!!!!

Just goes to show no matter how friendly I've become with them at this dealer, at the end of the day he is still a jackass! Although the tech is kewl.

[QUOTE=devious12] irratic idle issues, stalling problems, and my electrontics along with the whole car, will shut off when I'm driving.

I just had my 8 went in for recall two days ago. the next day i pick up my car every thing seems fine in the morning when i drive it. yet......8 hours later after work when i drive it again.......i experience irratic idle , stalling problems, and the car just shut off when at idle. I noticed the rev/m (or rpm) was lower than how it used to be at idle. it happened once so far which is last night. THis morning it seems fine.

Does any one have any idea what had happened? ( first time this happen to my 8, i had no prob with any issue before i brought in for recall (re-program)

In another thread someone had mentioned that it may be the ECU shorting out. But I guess I will find out after today, if the dealer really even looks into it.

Some dealers confuse "white-glove" w/ "latex-glove". They're way too eager to use the KY.

Yeah, it would have felt much better if they used the KY

Answered many times in this thread alone. Many here have experienced the same thing, but it resolves. Give it a week or two, if it doesn't resolve bring it back.

I know what you mean. I came back from vacation and this thing had grown more than 40 pages!!! It definitely took me awhile, too.

Hope the 10K and 1 more year is enough. If the engine's service life was 130K before it needs replacing and a persons 15K of mileage is really equal to an engine with 30K wear due to the lubrication issue, then 10K extra up to 60 doesn't mean jack really in the long run other than throwing people a bone. The 100K warranty is something I'm glad I purchased since we'll probably be looking at getting the engine replaced under warranty where as those with the factory plus 10K will be trying to decide whether to sell the car or paying out of pocket around 100K.

so if someone gave you a 69 camaro w/ a crate engine with 0 mile on it you'd turn it down? If they have to swap mine for whatever reason I'd say if my car has almost 40k, and my engine has 20 miles on it, I'd be ok with that. As long as the "new" engine runs okay, it sounds like a lot of folks are getting more problems out of this than anything which is reallllllly discouraging thuogh.

I can agree with much of what you wrote in theory, but I think you're not looking at the fact that there is the possibility of the install to be botched and the dealer saying "That's normal" when you complain.

Also keep in mind a car with a engine replacement will be harder to sell and you'll get less money for it than one that hasn't had an engine replacement. We're not talking about a 40 year old car - most of ours are 2 or less years old.

Try comparing apples to apples.

First, nobody GAVE me the rx8. I paid for it.
2nd, a muscle car is a classic. It's a toy. It's NOT my daily driver.
My car's engine runs VERY strong right now. 197whp w/ only Intake, FW, and Catback. That'd be hard to give up if my 'reman' engine is one of the 'less-than' models, 10-20whp less.

I might 'not' take the thing in - just get the RB flash and be done with it.

dmp, it looks like you live in a CARB state, if you do.. You will have to have the recall performed on your call in order to get license tabs. Since this is an emissions recall, it is mandatory in all CARB states (from what i have been told.)

Darin, if the engine runs strong, there is very litle likelihood that you'd need a new motor anyway... no?
fray, he lives in Washington state - not a "CARB state" as far as I know, or is it?

yeah - we're not CARB, really...sorta, but it's being phased in. I'll take it in to have it checked IF I can get a CX7. Or, unless I change my mind.

I hope so Tamas - I love the way my car runs, as-is, AND have already had the 'oil-metering' ECU Flash.
