It does. Thanks. & here's your Instant SuperCool status.

"...they did not do a vacuum test, and I didn't know any better to make certain they did"

Not your fault - they would likely have refused to vacuum test it even if you asked. The recall paperwork from Mazda called for the vacuum test ONLY if there were previous complaints of power loss/rough idle, etc.

Sorry you had to deal w/the BS. I certainly can understand it souring you on mazda. Def. worth seeing how the new engine runs tho. Did you have an Automatic trans or manual?

I got my new engine back in Dec of 06. I had the bad idle problem myself and ofcourse when my car was tested it did fail.

Anywho... So far the engine has been ok(knock on wood).. It was a little iffy at first, but got better as time went on.

I was very very discouraged myself when this was happening to me... but as time went on I started feeling much better about it.

For awhile there My 8 and I weren't talking to each other for a while. But now she and I are getting along much better now.

Hi. My car is an automatic, and I don't really remember what the extended warranty cost, but it was definitely in the same neighborhood ($1,000). Completely worth it as it has turned out. They have replaced my catalytic converter, fuel pump, and a few other things trying to fix the problem that I'm now realizing they knew all along was the engine.

We'll see what happens. I get it back in a week. Not sure if it will be a new or remanufactured engine. Is there much difference in how "new" it will really be?

before the engine was replaced they replaced my cat, ingnition coils, and after I got the new engine they replaced the throttle body.

I know that most engines are remanufactured. Mine was a reman also... Other 8 owners on here also had gotten remans. The original company building remans screwed some up and they failed again.. Mazda then changed the company rebuilding the engines to a company in North Carolina if my memory is correct. They go through and gut it all out and put new seals and such in the engine. So basically is it like brand new.

I have a 6MT. I have an old vin number also one of the original build dates.
