Mazda Furai Concept and New Mazda RX-8 to Make World Debut at 2008 North American Int

Wow. Just 'wow'.
If Mazda offers a Furai for sale with most of the bling and the 3 rotor, I take back all the bad things I've said about their lack of cojones. Even if it is priced at $500k and they only make 50 for sale, I'll take it all back.
They're claiming 'faster acceleration' for the 2009 RX-8, so unless they're sticking a numerically higher gear in the diff, they've got to have something up their sleeve. I hope! After all this time and b*tching!

I didn't even take a picture of the engine on the dyno. They were pretty busy in there getting it ready to test in the next couple of days so I didn't want to disturb them. I remember it being polished, blue and pretty.

I was thinking some sort of gearing change too. Could they mess with the first few transmission gears? I can't imagine more HP or I would think they would say "more power" rather than "faster acceleration". As you said though perhaps they do have something up their sleeves. Only a few weeks to find out!

Worldcarfans are saying that the Spy Shots of the 2010 RX-8 "Mule" is in fact the 2009 RX-8 Face-lift due around May 2008.
To use their words the 2010 report was a "**** up"..
Do you guys think the new 2009 RX-8 will also have the modified rear end panels for the new US quarter angle crash test regulations enforced in 2010?.
Would be unusual not to take advantage of this redesign not to...IMO.
It is obvious now that we will not see any new RX-8 0r 7 until the 2012/2013MY.
So, we can now all start some "real" speculation on what the new 2009 RX-8 will have in it...
LED Tail Lamps..
New shocks and damper settings..
New Alloys.
New Tranny and clutch.
Revised/new Oil Metering System.
More electronic gadgets...
Rain Sensing wipers.
Reversing sensors.
Advanced Key-less entry as standard.
Upgraded sound system.
Any more?

Maybe I'm missing something, but I thought it was pretty well known that a facelifted RX-8 is coming in the next 2-3 years and then the next gen RX-8 would come a year or two after that. The next gen is supposedly going to have the 1.6L rotary with direct injection. Is any of this really news? Weren't we already expecting a prototype of the facelift during this show season?
