Mazda needs to stop selling those stupid Ford trucks, do some better advertising of their MPV, spread the word about the 5, hurry up with the CX-7 and spend some serious time sorting out the RX-8's glitches although I think the damage is already done. As I've said here before, the flooding thing and the rumors and fears that have emerged from it are without excuse. That's on Mazda Japan, not as much Mazda North American. The 8 could be outselling the G35 or at least the Z car (More space, lower insurance rates and arguably better looks). It actually outsells the IS thank God. Anyone who has dealt with rotaries for more than a decade knows the inherent potential for flooding. You would think that the engineers at Mazda would have had this as one of their priorities during development and not something that would take a year or two into production to correct (Flash). It's not that hard to understand why the 8 is not selling upward of 2000 cars a month any more. I think people are afraid. I will be sure to discuss these things with Mr Davis when next I see him :D .
Everything else is being handled relatively well. The new Miata; excuse me, MX-5 is very promising and priced very well. The 6 and 3 are on target (Especially the 3).
I have high hopes for the future. By the way, did I mention they should stop selling those archaic Ford trucks?

In Mazda's new commercial currently running, they show the 3, 6, RX-8 and Miata, but they only mention the 3, 6 and Miata in the promotion. I don't think they promote it very well either. But with all of the previous problems, and now the thermal damage recall, it would probably be a waste of time. I do like my car, but if I hadn't yet purchased one, I probably never would. None of the issues individually are really overwhelming, but when you put them all together (flooding, hard starts, oil consumption, squeaky brakes, rusty rotors, weak battery, engine failure, fuel economy, thermal damage, ball joints (?), difficulty installing aftermarket radio, horse power) it's not very appealing. Damn, it's kind of depressing when you write it all out like that.
