Nice find, thanks for the info. But, is Mazda seriously thinking that the public will pay 3,577 per month opposed too paying 3.00 a gallon for gas!

Also: "It can cruise for a maximum 62 miles on hydrogen and 341 miles on gasoline it said."

So that means about 1 hour driving on hydrogen...

Check out the latest Popular Science magazine (Not up on website yet) - BMW is working on gasoline - steam hybrid. The steam produced from both the exhaust - high temperature - and the cooling system - low temperature.

Seems like a way to use the waste heat of a Wankel - much more practical than a hydrogen hybrid IMHO.

Thats good because to me the RX-8 hyrbrid seems completely impractical. Only 62 miles on hydrogen is a good start, but pathetic.

You guys are forgetting it's a testing technology for the Japanese market. They drive much shorter distances than we do. The high monthly lease is probably due to it's experimental state for research and development. I would bet $100 that those companies get a nice big credit from Japan for using those cars. Similar to the tax credit we get in the states for buying an alternative fuel car.
