Mazda RX-7 Concept To Appear In Tokyo?
This year’s Tokyo Motor Show is the perfect opportunity for Mazda to introduce a RX-7 concept so there’s a possibility we may see it appear in October. The RX-7 will likely showcase Mazda’s new design philosophy which goes once step beyond the previous ”Nagare” concepts.
The new RX-7 is said to relieve the RX-8 of its rotary flag-bearing duties and become Mazda’s flagship rotary sports car featuring a new design philosophy which we’re told is “one step beyond Nagare”. It has also been previously reported that the new RX-7 (or RX-9 according to Holiday Auto) would go on sale in the first half of 2012, which would mean the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show (TMS) would be the obvious place for its debut. This year’s TMS is an opportunity for Mazda to cash in on RX-7 fever as rotary enthusiasts start to wonder what’s going to happen once the RX-8 ends its production cycle. Mazda is expected to show its commitment to the rotary in October and what better way to do it than with a new RX-7 concept. Although it would be great to see a RX-7 successor revealed, Best Car conclude that there’s a “55% chance” that we could see a new concept break cover in Tokyo… so in other words, don’t hold your breath!

Actually it reminds me of the joy some animals find with their face to the wind. Like a dog out of a window. Mouth opened breathing in the air, an excited expression with eyes squinting to protect them from the blast. It looks like a car that loves to go fast. Of the three images offered I'm not sure which I find best. I guess I have plenty of time to think about it and Mazda has plenty of time to refine the design before it hits the street.
Hopefully I'll have a few months with it before the Mayan calendar runs out. Not like I believe in their suggestion of the end of time on earth mind you. Never the less I think I'll play it safe and finance it.

That would be so cool for the first 2 years. Then, depreciation, then we have a bunch of 16 year old on rx9club, cuz everone and their dog got one.
Happened to m4, elise, cayman, it will happen to rx9. What's the point of it all?

Hello all. Yeah, they MUST bring back the RX-7, just like other car makers make a car that can "carry the name". (Honda should bring back the NSX, and Toyota should bring back the Supra) I love the RX-8 so much, and I'm so thankful that they brought it out--especially since I could afford my 2008. I really lusted after the car as soon as I saw it six years ago, and I still can't believe I have one sitting out in the garage!--maybe I should go take a look at her right now!! Anyways, I've read Car and Driver my entire adult life, and come on guys, have you EVER seen an "old" car not only still make it in to comparos years after it comes out, but actually still WIN them?!! (yes, I know the test with the 2009 finally put it down a few notches), but I loved seeing the RX-8 hang around so much. SO, I'm assuming that Mazda will let the RX-8 fade into history, and replace it with another RX-7, and I'm cool with that, even though I'll probably never own one. It will probably be out of my price range and I don't know if I'll ever own another two seat car (I had two 280-Z's once upon a time). Anyways, I'm going to have this 2008 for a long damn time. I guess since I got mine, I wouldn't freak out if the RX-8 went away, but it would be incredible if they kept the RX-8 AND brought back the RX-7, just my two cents. By the way, that picture of A.J.'s Shinka is INSANE!!! The color freaks me out!! cheers!
