^ totally agree with u guys,
Since i own both cars, miata and rx8
My GT RX8 (stupid 4AT), probably 200hp and 140tq (not to the wheel, never did dyno), with around 3100lbs
and i did 2:15 at ButtonWillow
I also own a 6 Speed Swap NA miata 110whp,101wtq, with 2250lbs
I did 2:14 at ButtonWillow
So now u know how's the 800lbs difference, even tho with much less power

I'll be honest, at first I wasn't ecstatic about the "lack of effort" put into the new Spirit R; but after some thought it doesn't seem so bad. After all, the Spirit R RX-7 was only a slight refinement of the previous model. What made it more appealing than anything were the Recaro seats and exclusivity. Both of which the Spirit 8 has. So what if it's basically an R3 with some slight differences... R3's are awesome! I know we were all hoping there would be an increased power output, but it doesn't make much sense for a company to invest all that money in devopment on a model that's about to be cut. That being said, I would definitely own a Spirit R RX-8 if I could get my hands on one.
