Motor Trend Future Vehicle Forecast - RX7
I found this on the MT future vehicle forecast area - take what you want from it. They did not list the RX-8 (normally they list any vehicles that they know are going to have significant changes or are new product lines).
2007 Mazda RX-7 : On the drawing board is a shortened, lighter coupe boasting 280-330 hp. However, it has not been greenlighted for production. "We can't just keep launching sports cars," says product development chief Joe Bakaj.

They didn't list the RX8 because 06 is the last year. Then early 07 a DI 3-rotor "RX7" will be released as a RX9. Have you seen the Kabura? Yep it would be based off that design with a sub 2800lb weight and Kabura style interior, mixed with Senku feel.

I don't see an RX-7 being cranked out in the next year. I wish, but just don't see it happening.
I think Mazda's focus is on the CX-7 / Mazda 3 right now: both of those are more 'main stream' and big sellers!

Did anyone notice the new Tiburon!!??
http://www.motortrend.com/future/spi..._tiburon_z.jpg
OMFG, it looks just like an RX8. I ******* HATE Hyundai. They're always stealin design concepts. Now these things (becuase of their cheap prices) will sell like hotcakes, and only degrade the RX8's image with this cheap knockoff of a model revision.

The tibs also suppose to come with a 260hp 6cyl and AWD...
I personnally like the last body style, it was just lacking the power. I guess hyundai's fixed that, and it comes with a ten year warrenty too...hmmm

I thought the new Tib looked like a DB9. The current one looks Ferrari hot! However, my fiance had one and I hated it. Should have been called the Hyundai Blindspot.

RG...while I agree alot of people say alot of cars look like the RX8, but for once this is very true. It's like they got the RX8 and hyndied it. I can't blame them...the 8 is sexy and their car will have a V8 I hear.

I think that concept car is 3 years old, so who knows what the next Tiburon will look like. Hyundai said last year that they are going to build a rwd V8 sedan. Maybe the next Tiburon will be based off that platform?

Hyundai doesn't steal designs and concepts... Many of the cars that look like other cars that Hyundai makes is usually a joint venture with another company of some sort. I remember that Honda and Hyundai used to do a lot of collaboration.

Bummed, but bring on OU!

Unfortunately this is just the future. I forsee no Rx-7 anytime soon. For that matter I forsee no other Renesis powered cars anytime soon. No $ in it.

The tib reminds me of Men in Black when the alien that takes over the farmer's body (Vincent D Onofrio) pulls on the back of his head to tighten the skin on his face because the wife said his face was drooping.
