Particularly if it's up around the 200kw mark because, IMHO, that's about all that's needed (more would be nice, of course ). I'm sure most people on here would be the same. It would also be great if this power increase still came without a turbo - what an awesome engineering achievement!
Thanks for the heads up ASH8. I'll have to remember to go and pick up a copy later this month (unless it's out already?!).

Its only a small word on the subject, I doubt you will see a turbo...ever...as they have the usual fuel consumption and emission regulation problems.
The EU countries require a higher emission standard, every few years!, killing a OEM turbo rotary.

Please some explain to me why this doesn't make sense.
Why not us thinner rotors (I am guessing that of a 10A motor) like Rotarygod said and put 3 of them in a motor. I would think that motor would spin like crazy, be smoother, and produce a nice amount of power. Of course use all the new technology in the motor as well. Does that not sound the most obvious way to go?

Just to play devil's advocate since someone has to, yes electirc cars can be neck snapping fast. They can also be pathetically slow like every hybrid we currently have available. Gasoline engines can also be the same way. Still waiting to see John Force drag race an electric!

My God....you people are depressing.....
Nobody cares about fun? Or is geeky electric super cars what people really want?
I hate half the electronics in cars nowadays, electronic this, smart that....geeezuuussss......
Batteries and all this extra garbage just water down the driving experience. I love old school cars...so simple and pure.
I used to like BMW's....until they actived everything....active steering, crazy electronic brakes....stupid. More complexity and weight to such a simple thing like steering...In normal cars you turn the friggin wheel, a mechanical coupling transfers the rotation to the wheels..simple...now they have to add a bunch of sensors, motors, actutors to guess how much I would like the front wheels to turn....wtf?
Same goes for AWD, Semi automatic trannies, and DSC/TCS/ and all those fuggin acronyms I can do without.
So much bullshit nowadays...

I agree somewhat...too much electro gizmos, spoil the driving experience, at least with the 8 you can switch most off.
Thats why the MX-5 (sorry Miata) has been so popular in the UK,Aus,US many owners there are gentlemen(UK) over 45 who recall the MG days with simple drivetrains/layouts...and fun/skill.
Probably why the MX-5 has outsold/defeated ALL those who have tried to copy its success.

The car they had there was a full size clay model. And a mock up interior made of plywood and plastic. It had an rx8 gauge cluster and pedals, and a mx5 e-brake. One of the questions was "who do you think makes this car."

What about more lobes on the rotor? (Flame suit ON. Duck and Cover) I have a tiny water pump that you hook to a hose and run with an electric hand drill that has five lobes running in a six-pointed chamber. Works really well. Why not in a car?
As for the high compression rotory diesel mentioned above, isnt there physical issues with achiving compresson ratios of 14 or 15 in a rotory? Cold start issues? predetonation issues? Just asking.

I was kinda hoping you were going to comment on my multiple lobes question.

But I agree it would rock.
