I in no way support the use of this software or make any claims about how well it works or if it is adware-, spyware-, or virus-free. It was just first on google's search for "download mms:" :D (and it worked for me...)

I don't know if I have this little bit of information mistaken for a different car manufacturer or not. Was it Mazda or Honda that don't allow just anyone to work on their high-end cars like the NSX(Honda) or was it rotary-powered cars(Mazda)? Something like you had to have so many years experience working in an assembly line. Can anyone chime in and confirm this?

That video just made me want to go out and drive until my legs and hands fell off. I don't know what it is, but just watching those rotors spin in the housings really gets me.
There is definitely a sense of pride owning this car. Great vid!

My fiance is Japanese so she translated it for me... basically it says when the rotary was first designed, Mazda decided to put it into production. Everyone thought it was impossible, but they made it work. Then they went and talked about the various cars that went into production and the making of the rotary, saying it could of been done using a machine, but even machines are no match for the precision and craftsmanship of human hands. And as time evolved and demand in the current world changed due to environmental concerns, the rotary engine also had to change, hence the evolution of the RENESIS engine. The rotary engine is Mazda's pride and glory. Something along those lines...

For those who missed it:

<part where the RX-7 is shown>
Standing alone as the rotary sports car, RX-7. August 2002, the curtain goes down on the RX-7, does this mean the end of the rotary heart of Japanese sports cars?
<part where the Cosmo and older 1970's RX cars are shown>
1967, for 6 years a new technology is being developed, engineers at Mazda strive to create this new rotary dream. Each new car has world class performance, but with each generation the environmental issues create new challenges, will the rotary finally disappear?
<part where the Renesis R&D and assembly is shown>
However...
...No, the Rotary did not end. The Rotary must never end, once again a new effort has started to design a new Rotary engine. The new generation rotary is born, RENESIS, with performance, quality and craftsmanship. Each engine is hand made one at a time, just like a racing car. An engine that feels like revving to 9000rpm, that's the rotary engine. Built with Japanese tradition (like the katana "Samurai sword" shown) that can only be achieved by humans, that's Japanese craftsmanship. That's why the rotary has spirit (soul). This is Mazda's Spirit, Mazda's pride, only Mazda can do it. This is deeply the rotary engine, the Renesis.
<part where the RX-8 is shown>
April 2003, a new generation of rotary sports car performance is unveiled, RX-8. The rotary lives again. Engine of the year, RENESIS. Any road, highway, freeway, you can hear the sound of the rotary. Mazda's "challenge the spirit" is this energy, the new rotary engine. More now than ever, this is for rotary sports lovers. Mazda.

Kind of like the movie Lost in Translation with Bill Murray. There's a scene where a Japanese Director is giving Bill instructions on how to do a TV commercial that's fairly detailed and animated. But the translator turns to Bill and simply says something like "with more feeling". Bill then says, with a puzzled look: "seems like he's telling me a lot more than that..." Which of couse the director was.

I was facinated by the slo-mo shots of the rotor turning in the housing. In the slo-mo near the end of the video I was trying match up the spin of the "crankshaft"/output shaft to the spin of the rotor. Does anyone know the relationship - how many times the output shaft spins for each complete spin of the rotor (firing all three chanmbers on the rotor)?
Just curious.

Anybody know the name of the songs being played in the first two RX-8 videos? The one in the movie named "rotary" that starts playing as the International Engine of the Year Award 2003 banner shows up with the RX-8 doing the awesome 360, and the one that plays about halfway through the video named "conceptimage" ? Great inspirational songs that make you want to just go out and drive.
