dang no kidding- thats why us rotorheads gotta stick together... noone else understand the true concept and point that we are trying to make with our cars and ideas.... "tester chris" should have his right leg snapped in two and see if he feels the car oversteering after that... loser

I could not find it when I originally replied in the this thread but Pettit wrote a rebuttal to the article. It is a good read and explains a lot so maybe someone has a link or a copy they could post.

They deserve to have been trashed, the results speak for themselves

Too often modded cars are tested and the results are underwhelming. How often have we seen proper tests of tuner cars go up in smoke, or completely screw up other aspects of the power delivery, reliabilty, etc. only to get some magic hp number on a dyno for the dickless types.

Where do you get off saying this never having driven the car? I have had some dealings with petitt and they KNOW what they're doing. I've never driven the car but I highly doubt they'd tune the car improperly.

I'm going by the test, $5000+ for 4/10ths and driveability issues? Got no doubt they're a good bunch of guys, but jeez!

The point was that Pettit Racing gave the RX-8 to them and told them that the car wasn't ready yet. In fact, as we know now, it was about 2 years from being ready (I don't think anyone thought at the time it would take that long to solve all the RX-8s ECU issues). They were rold it would have problems and not be a 'testable' car. It was just to serve as a preview of what they were working on because MT asked if they had something and you take the slot on the editorial calendar when you can get it, they don't come around very often. And, despite what they were rold, Motor Trend went and gave it a full-test as if it was a complete and finished product.

And their comments on the brake kit were just utter stupidity. A brake kit that doesn't touch the calipers of course isn't going to decrease stopping distances. The entire purpose of such a kit is to decrease brake fade and improve feel and modulation, features which they noted the kit as having.

Pettit used to have a rebuttal on their page. But seeing as the article is so old they probably figure that it's better to just not bring it up at all as most people looking at Pettit now won't have seen the article.

i can agree with that, they would be substantially harder to install it and tuning rather than just having it, pretty much just like buying a FI 8, haha. i dont know why anyone would want to sell one of those, unless something is wrong with it, ha
