R&T "photo" of a new RX-7...
In the May R&T, they have a photo of a concept based on the RX-8 which they dub "RX-7." Now whether anyone from Mazda would actually go that far is another question altogether; personally I'm not a big fan of the idea that all sports cars these days need to be roadsters...

oh you mean the convertible on page 58? they say its a rumor and probably won't be out till 2006 or 2007.
"Speaking of the RX-8, rumors have the 4-door sports car spawning a 2-door convertible called the RX-7. It would be positioned between the Miata and the RX-8, but likely won't see production until 2006 or 2007. --MDL"

Well, since the RX-7 is supposedly getting the bigger engine and all, I really doubt that it will be positioned between the Miata and RX-8. Rather, it will be the flagship model, placed above the RX-8.
Also, does anyone remember the R35 GT-R picture they printed 2 years ago? It looks nothing like the actual concept car.
The release date and the fact that it will be based on the RX-8 chassis sounds realistic. but then, that info isn't exactly a scoop at this point.
