I have an explanation why there was no RX-8 in the test. They magazine gets the press cars from Mazda. Mazda would rather be giving publicity to the new hardtop MX-5 and the MazdaSpeed 3. Besides, Mazda already had 2 cars in the test, no other brand had more than one.

Maybe they should just call the comparison "best Mazda under 30k".

 

I love my RX-8 and no magazine or person can change my mind !

 

If the 8 was not considered because of reliability issues then the Cooper should not be in there either. From everything I have read and heard first hand about Coopers, be glad that you have an 8.

 

You know, I've downloaded reviews from Edmunds, Forbes, Automotive.com, C&D, R&T, and a half dozen other places, and their initial (and later!) reviews all give the RX-8 the edge in looks, convenience, handling, build quality, internal features, comfort, price and appeal. In all fairness, they gave the RX-8 a negative in fuel economy and torque. The RX-8 is on Car & Driver's Ten Best list (of ALL the sports coupes) for the last three years running. It also won best engine design when it first came out.

Guys (and gals!), I'd have to say the articles, reviews, and our ownership speaks for itself. You can't hardly find a BAD review of the RX-8, at least of the dozens I've read. So WHAT if R&T doesn't pick it for a top spot this year?

As I was picking up my wife for lunch the other day, she was just shaking her head as she walked up to our "B-ReX" (Blue RX). As she got in, she said "This car is unbearably cute! I'm so glad we got it instead of the 350Z".

My thoughts exactly!
