Looks like the new 8 will be available from May June 2008. In Australia.

facelift guys, facelift. The honda s2000 got a new front bumper after a few years. The previous generation of mitsu. eclipse got a new front bumper after a couple of years. The fd continued production in japan after 1995 and got a slight redesign...new front bumper and new rims and spoiler. Look for minor changes.

The S got more than just a new front bumper...add .2 liters, new wheels, headlights, tailights, exhaust, and interior, just to name a few. I see your point though.

I'm anticipating the refresh for one reason only...RETROFIT! Especially if it get's LED tails.

This got me thinking.. what if it looks akin to the shown but never made Mazdaspeed v2 kit? I know the fenders where a love or hate it but the front bumber everyone seemed to like/enjoy. I dunno again just thought of this and figured I'd toss it out for speculation.

This could actually be true as Mazda Japan has taken off their RX-8 M'z Tune off their website

could be, but it wont look very aggressive (mazdaspeed). Just think the restyle for the Mazda 6 recently, there wont be much changes.....

just look forward to the 15B that'll go on display.

some things id like to see (Not necessarily all of them)

-different bumper and matching appearance package
-new rims
-different spoiler option
-different headlights with possibly dual projectors
-non altezza looking tail lights with LED's
-Re tuned stereo with a better EQ
-Larger Stock Muffler tips
-Stock oil protector screens
-rear bumper with real mesh inserts
-change the GT appearance package....front lip that flares out at the edges and slim in the middle...long side skirts (think mazdaspeed), and a slightly more pronounced 2 piece rear kit.

3 new colors....a midnight purple (350z style), Brazen Orange/Burned copper type color, and bring that black pearl that was only available in europe, that color was sick.

my wish list lol, not that id buy one tho but sure would be nice to see some on the streets...all the rx8's i see now are just so bleh...unless they are BB...those always look good :-)

If they give it a facelift is anyone actually seriously considering "upgrading"?

I don't know what Americans mean when they say "facelift, not redesign", but how would you describe a car that can be identified as an RX-8, but look nothing like the current car?

What if it it had more than 200 changes? How would you describe the car if it had (nearly) all new sheetmetal?

I think you'd have to call it the 2nd gen RX-8. Just like the late 1st gen RX-7s with the same 13B as the 2nd Gen RX-7s.

I consider a redesign a new chassis and engine with accompanying new sheetmetal and interior. E.G: FD to RX8 or FC to FD.

I consider a facelift/refresh cosmetic changes or minor increases in performance of the existing motor and chassis. Like FD to Efini FD.

That's the only thing I would worry about. I don't want to become the 1st or 2nd gen RX-7, or the earlier Supra .. quite undesirable in the market and not easily recognized as part of that model.
