Return of the ROTARY

Well.. had another quick drive of the Mazda 3 Auto with i-stop this afternoon, (my sister is looking at buying one) it was ONLY around the block (dealer wants to keep demo mileage down as unit numbers are low)...Sweet SA motor, peppy, and 6 speed Auto trans is very fast change up and down...
I-stop is EXCELLENT, as soon as you stop engine cuts off at the lights or where you stop, you have to use a firm-ish pressure on the brake pedal like you are stopping at traffic lights otherwise the system appears not to recognize or activate the i-stop if pedal pressure to stop is too light.
As soon as you take your foot off the Brake Pedal she starts up...in a split second!
Interior trim is very good, the whole car just feels so tight and "better" put together....but that is just an opinion.
Rotary...this is good news..

autoblog.it says there is "more than one car under development". maybe is a misunderstanding from japanese article who talks about both "Taiki" and "Shinari" (2 and 4 doors cars).
But if the investment on Sky-R is so big (time and funds) that make sense.

- mx-5 ND concept (maybe near to production like minagi/cx-5 or more "conceptual")
-some official word or a concept/exibithion of Sky-Rotary (Ash is right with a "more close to production" version of Taiki)
-Some new "JDM-only" model (example a new MPV or a new Verisa) and words about some new Skyactiv gasoline engines...(2.3? 1.6?)
-CX-5 JDM

It'll still idle normally if you're in Park, sitting still with the A/C running, etc... and not touching the brake?

Look I did not do/ask the AC question, but obviously IF you have the AC ON the i-stop will not work...as I see it.
The SA with i-stop is only available in Automatic Trans here, this appears to be worldwide so far...there is i-stop with MZR Engine also.
At a guess, I would say the ABS units Brake Pressure Sensor determines if the i-stop works, as I said if you do a slow stop with little BPP i-stop does not kick in.

Darn cars shift when THEY want to, stop the engine when THEY want to, start at the push of a button (or smartphone app), rain-sensing wipers, auto-off headlights, traction control, stability control... hello? Remember ME?

I had a guy talking to me today, telling me about an idea to have an EGOS chip in vehicle gas tanks that logs octane, typical fill level, and has your credit card info, so you can just pull in to the gas station and the pump fills your car for you, without you having to do anything.
My only thought was: "people aren't lazy enough?!

Kinda confused as to how a rotary can have SkyActive tecnology. I thought the basis of SkyActive was using a miller cycle with a redesigned piston to increase thermal efficiency and performance? Or is Skyactive just a marketing term for all their new stuff?

It's mostly marketing, though Mazda isn't the one saying skyactive rotary. Even so read up on the actual tech, some of it can apply to rotaries, though certainly not all. Compression shaping for one.
