Rolex GT Series - VIR Race with Speed Source 3rotor RX8
awesome race, DVR and watch it if you get the chance. the Speedsource cars are owning everyone on the track, its nice to see a rotary kick *** against porsche, vettes etc....
About 18 laps into the race, the Mazda RX8 and a Porsche GT car make contact in a corner and the porsche GT ends up spinning off course into a the wall....totally hilarious ownage by the RX8. I wish I could put that on you tube.
Go Speedsource!

It was a great race though. I can't want to see them at Laguna Seca. I hope Mazda Corporate shows up, or at least their race folks since it's Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

that was a pretty outstanding race for the mazda to out run most of the cars of higher power plants .the car sounded cool and the drivers really show you what the car can do on some rough turns and come out ahead.long race but worth the time!

Great site for racing video torrents. You'll need to create an account.
The race is in 6 parts. Here is the link for the 6th part. Just do a search for "rolex" for the rest.

Looks like Tremblay couldn't keep pace with the first driver after the swap, they claimed his brakes were locking up, I thought they had it in the bag before that driver swap. BTW, nice save when he got a wheel off after he passed the lead Porsche.
Funny, just after the announcers were saying that organizers were looking at the pace of the RX8 to ensure that there is no unfair advantage, the 8's started trailing off.
Certainly great racing and fun to watch.

Heheh...I was noticing the same thing too. I might be nuts, but I have to wonder if Speedsource is employing some sandbagging tactics to 'stay under the radar' so to speak.....do just enough to maintain that points lead, baby!
still pretty impressive that #70 is taking on all comers; it's them against not just *one* nemesis 911, but several strong ones in the series.

Good race. Both RX8's hung in there strong. I agree with the probable sandbagging by Speedsource. Good on them, though. Work the system.
I thought somebody said Randy Pobst was going to drive one of the cars. He hasn't driven one yet. Anyone know anything?

yeah, someone posted that early in the season, but SpeedSource may be changing course...methinks putting Randy Pobst in your car would ruin any 'sandbagging' plans you might have!! With Randy driving the #70, it'd likely be saddled with a 200lb. 'competition adjustment' slab of Pb by now!
mebbe they should stick him in the #69, and try for a 1-2 season finish.

It's a funny thing to hear Porsche drivers talk about the strength of the Mazda. There was some great racing at VIR. Just jaw dropping stuff. Thank goodness for DVR. If you haven't got it yet I highly recommend you get it. Especially if you like a variety of racing...just set it and it'll record everything without having to reprogram the thing.
While I'm not a Porsche guy, those 911's are pretty impressive considering they aren't tube chasis race cars...as far as I know.
I've got tix for the race at Laguna Seca!
Can't wait to smell some race fuel and hear those 20B's.
