RX-8 The major-minor change will be unveiled at Detroit next month. Mostly cosmetic, the 16x will NOT be part of the change. There were rumors of the 16X testing in the US. These appear not to be true.

There was talk of recent testing in Australia as well , but it seems to be without substance according to the article.
Without being smart about it but theres too many people on this Forum who claim to have high up connections and have inside knowledge on whats going on and really i think they are misguided or being led up the garden path
Legends in their own lunchtime

Personally I kind of hope there is no new rx8 engine any time soon - the sooner it comes, the sooner our cars are yesterday's fun...

Someone has to say it, and he's right. There are too many car people, including car reviewers who think they know what the future holds....
Take for example this story about the 2010 RX7.....True or False....?

Well, I guess I am one of those so called "legends" you refer to and really I do not care what you think or what Rotary News says, much of what they say make common sense.
My source is from a manager that has daily contact with the guys at MA.
He assures me that there are 3 RX-8's testing in South Australia's outback and that the larger rotary engines (the only larger engines I know of are the 1.6's) are installed.
He and I also said that these testing cars (RX-8 Bodies) may just be "mules" for these larger rotary engines, and in no circumstances suggested that there "WERE" going to be in the new face lifted RX-8 due in a few months.
Yes as I said a lot of this is just rumor and "gossip" but car and engine testing/evaluation goes on in Europe, US and Australia ALL the time, in fact every new model is tested here long before its release.

Some news that is certain and I hope to be able to confirm sooner to the model release, and this applies to ALL new Mazda's and face lifts.....
Mazda Australia receives from MMC a Distributors shipping damage initial Spare Parts order list.
At or around the end of this month the list will show part numbers and description of all the changed parts associated with the outer body, for example.
Bumper bars, ALL lamps, grilles, hoods, trunk and fenders.
Usually only minimum quantities are ordered and arrive just before or at the same time of the cars port arrival.
This is so any shipping/port damage (and it does happen) can be repaired.
The next major Distributor Spare Parts order list for a new model (RX-8) usually arrives 10-12 weeks before the models release, this is of those parts that have been completely changed or modified and will include all mechanical, suspension, trim, body, etc.
From this list we can determine from the part numbers if engine components like rotors, housings, apex seals, eccentric shaft, radiator, oil coolers, hoses, etc have changed.
As a general rule if the entire model code of the part number has changed from the previous RENESIS you can be 99% sure that the engine is different.
At that point I would call it a changed rotary engine if the entire part numbers are new for all the large internal engine components.
Hopefully Mick can find this information out and pass it on.

The above procedure applies to all of MMC's Wholesale Distributors like MNAO, MA, MME.
More than likely that ALL will be revealed on the 18th January..?
My gut feeling is the new RX-8 will still have a 13B.

The above information is worthwhile its .................appreciated
thanks Legend
Hopefully they will upgrade the ignition system and coils in the revamped RX8 , AND ALSO PUT IN A DECENT STARTER MOTOR , OIL METERING PUMP ETC .
The revamped RX8 will have to be considerably better in its parts specifications reliability and performance for the previous owners to consider upgrading otherwise sales will be slow .
Fuel figures will also hopefully be better
Cheers

I also for got to add how would RN know if RX-8 mules are testing in Australia's outback when the cars come direct from Japan, not via the US or MNAO.
Apart from that I fully agree with what they say..

Momentum Keeps Me Going
Can you tell us by what route any (if there is any real) power increase will be produced? And what date does the news embargo on the RX-8 refresh come off? Put another way, is the update so insignificant that they'll just wait and simply slipstream the info into a pre-show press briefing for journalists and not really have much fanfare about 'it'? This is getting depressing...

I don't buy Kool-Aid
I cant say much about that. But I can say this: Look at all the sightings of the New GT-R's that where all over the world last year. Even in Vegas on its way down to Mexico
