Well everyone knows the results anyway...Rx8 is slow.
What's interesting is about the braking portion...you can see the GT driver really try to deep brake and go in the "normal" one (I think its shinka) and holy molly see the back end swayyyy....
Oh and STORMY BLUE MICA RULEEEEEEEEEZ! :P

In consideration, against the S2k and the 350z, I would believe that result is pretty accurate. Especially on Tsukuba, where you have a long straight section, the long sweeping curve, and several shorter straight sections. That 350z engine is no slouch

Would like to agree, Im not sure I coudld do better than those RX-8 drivers but they werent the best... kinda pissed me off....

The drivers in the 8 sucked. Amateurs. I could have done better. Shifts could have been quicker and turns could have been faster... They had no spine to bust some moves trying to get around the other cars on the bends.

Most of you would suck compare to that driver in the MS Rx8...
He is a professional JTCC driver.

Just admit the Rx8 is slower than the S2k and 350Z...I was asking you folks to listen to what those folks said
a)About the braking setup (stock vs track use)
b)About what the Rx8 was good at (the corners)
I guess all you folks care is about e-peen of whos faster on the internetz...gee...I thought this place is better than civic nation.
And finally, the DSC on both Rx8s were off completely in the race. You don't see them flashing at the corner do you?

I never said they were bad drivers I just said I felt like they didnt do quite a good job. I know the stats of the S2000 and its a close battle but with professional driver the S2000 will win. I just felt the drivers could of done better. Going out wide and not being able to shift to second gear seems to be skills a professional should have down... just my opinion. I could care less about my "e-peen" . This place is better than that, i just think we all agree the drivers could of done better

The one driving the "Shinka" Rx8 experienced instability when doing hard brake...thats why you see him swaying a few times and he noted that after the race.
The one driving the MS one...well, he is the same driver in the only race of all best motoring shows where Rx8 win (without cheating lol) I think youtube got it called the "Revenge of the Rx8".

Professional driver made mistakes too...regardless, I am just sharing my love of the rx8 by posting related videos/articles.
Peace.

Regarding the second gear: Could be that his second gear is suffering what quite a few MT people have - the little grind problem.
Regarding the tail-wiggling on the wide right hander: A lot of people say that the stock 8 suspension (even with the foam doo-hickies) get really floaty on the rear end under heavy braking. And you would be doing relatively heavy braking on that turn - probably getting from 110+ down to 70. Stiffer front springs would help =\

Second gear problem I thought was when downshifting into it... like going from 3rd to 2nd or 4th to 2nd and having to rev match... It wont go in and grinds... thats whats happened to me and from what ive read...

I dunno (I'm an AT ).
My honest impression is this: The 350z and the S2000 are track toys. They are 2 seater, stiff-as-hell, race oriented sports cars. The RX-8 is not as sacrificial as those two, and yet it keeps up. That's pretty damn good in my opinion.
I just feel bad that the MS 8 in the video had a bad launch, and then got stuck behind the G35 (or Skyline). I'd imagine it would be more capable of carrying speeds into corners if not for that fat *** taking the sweet lines

But in both situations... slow and redline, every other gear is butter.

Its funny that you mention that... Ive been noticing that going from first into second feels a lil harder then any other gear. But when im racing the engine... flooring it to redline in first, then shifting into second, it goes in easier. The slower i go, the harder it goes in. However, downshifting from any gear into second goes in easy.

ahh right well from what ive read and driven a common problem in series I transmissons is that when your downshifting INTO second at high rpms it tends to grind for anything above 6-7K rpms... it happens to different people but it is a known problem. Not to meantion the Tranny in manuals already is glass...
