RX-8 Commercial on ESPN sunday night football
Anyone else catch em, uninteresting commercials each about 10 secs long divided by another commercial. Mentions rotarary powered and shows the best new engine award. And then that damn zoom zoom crap, that kid drives me insane :p

Didn't the doors come back and hit the guy when he's huggin' the car?
Good stuff, I was at our sport bike meeting and people were just done checking out the car (yes, I drove to the monthly meet... heh)

Mazda seems to have this cutesy attitude when it comes to thier marketing, I just don't get it... VW, Mitsubishi, Subaru seem to have some of the better ad campaigns out there, with VW being the best IMO.

Mitsubishi - Telepopmusik (techno band)
Subaru - Big muscled biker guy
Mazda - Car huggin freak.
There's an undertone here, and I just don't like it!

Which VW commercial is this? The one where the guy is rushing to stop the wedding before it's too late?
If so, I thought that was a great commercial. A definite rip-off of "The Graduate", but it worked just the same. As a side note, I think it was directed by David Lynch.

I don't think that's there motto, but maybe they've adopted it at times. The farfigneugen (sp?) thing was a national phenomenon, the Beetle commercials were great with The Orb music and the car spinning with different colors, and I thought the wedding one was very well done. And I think the new Touraeg commercials are great, very memorable and effective campaign each and every one of them. VW as far as effective commercials go rank right up there with Nike and The Gap, which I think is saying a lot.
Also I think Saturns latest ad campaign is quite good as well.

I saw the two last night or rather I caught pieces of them. They were on USA about 9:30 9/16/03. I wasn't watching TV but heard RX-8 and caught the end of the first. Then the second came on I was listening better but still didn't see the whole thing.
I had hoped the commericals would be closer to the one in JP. These commericals are pretty week to me. Totally the wrong image from what their "target market" is. I can't see any 30 something single males finding those commericals interesting. Maybe they will come out with better ones later.
I wish these were cooler, closer to the commericals for the 6.

I think there trying to appeal to a different buyer, they probably figure the usual buyers are people who had a 7 and were already interested in buying one, I would agree , let me see a mean looking commercial as well, looks like there trying to get the 30 and up demographic, married, settled down with kids crowd......that commercial was funny as heck but it did weird me out in a strange way, I guess its suppose to appeal to peoples softer side.

I think a couple of bikini-clad supermodels arguing and pulling hair would do fine for the next commercial.....is the 8 a family car or a sports car....family car....sports car....family car........oh just kiss and make up.:D

Anyone noticed since the commercials have started more and more people are starting to point and stare at your cars? Three times in the past two days at drive thru lines people have been stopping beside my car and stareing or rolling down their windows to ask questions . I got the same attention two months ago when I first got the car and now its starting all over again. Other people are coming up to me and saying I seen your car last night on tv. Hopefully this will start a new buying frenzy for Mazda.

Dont have one yet but I can imagine the excitement and pride the rest of you owners have driving around in your new 8's.
They really dont need to appease me. I was a buyer when I first saw the car several years back, when I get an 8 it would be my 5th rotary.
