Sorry to report I do have much for details. I got just a glance of the 12/03 cover at a hotel lobby this A.M.

Said something to the effect of the best sports car to buy, but do not quote me on it.

This evening I went to Books-A-Million & Wal-Mart to pick up a copy, but their issues were still 11/03, no 12/03.

Keep a look out.

It's kind of like saying Motortrend... we don't have motortrend in Cali :p It's just tucked away in the financial section where most of us will never look because we're stuck in the Car mag area

 

Well, I see we don't have a bunch of financial guru's on this forum, else someone would have shared some info from this article already.

I bought the mag just for y'all. Kiplinger's annually rates different categories of vehicles, and they base these ratings on a combination of performance, safety, roominess & value.

In short, they rated our beloved RX-8 the Best New Sports Car for 2004, and suggested the resale value after 2 years would be 62% of original value, and after 4 years - 45%.

For comparison's sake:
RX-8 -- 62% / 45%
Corvette -- 63% / 48%
Mustang -- 48% / 33%
S2000 -- 66% / 53%
Miata -- 57% / 41%
EVO -- 51% / 37%
350Z -- 65% / 49%
911 Coupe 60% / 47%
WRK Sti -- 57% / 43%
G35 4Dr -- 65% / 48%

The article also talked about the buy-back program Mazda offered because of the reduced horsepower. It said "Mazda estimates about 10% of the buyers asked for their money back".
