Talking RX-8 dead last...what a surprise.

I posted a couple times on this forum awhile back for the heck of it, and found everyone here to be, well...pretty lame.

Non-objective and lame, and hell-bent on comparing the RX-8(performance-wise) to the likes of the 350Z and G35Coupe.

Well, here's a video you all might enjoy...(and you may want to keep a few Kleenex's handy to cry into).:p

Dude, the most common thing compared to in taht sense, is that yes, 350, and G35 have more horse, more torque, but the 8 has more practicality, while keeping the sportcar part of itself intact, it has amazing handling, hell, I know I cant beat a 350 off the line.... yet, until I put a little more into whats under the hood, but I love my car, and I know she handles like a dream.
As well, have you ever test driven an 8 or sat in one to compare? I checked out the 350 a bit as well as the 8, and frankly, this is more comfortable, and more appealing to the eye IMHO

Go complain to all the car magazines that rate the RX-8 higher overall in comparison to the Nissans while you're at it.

BTW you're about as stupid as any S2000 driver posting that video on a Nissan Z/G/VQ35 board. :D :D :p

a side note, that vid is pretty old, and you might want to consider the drivers ability, or his apparent lack thereof, not all drivers are equal, and not all cars are equal, however a great driver in an unequal car, can do amazing things, so remember that you can never judge a cars performance until you try it yourself, instead of relying on others abilities to prove the cars abilities

Z,

Good luck with all your problems on the inside and outside of the car. I wish you all the best with the impending class-action lawsuit against Nissan. What a car you got there.

Cool Motorweek....

You also probably missed the 'Motorweek' in April, that pitched just the 'Z' against the '8......

'Z' sucks RX-8 dust.....

Don't go there!

Z, u are just trying to be naive, which is a shame to other 350Z owners. ur message is really ignorent; u are comparing a 4 door sports car (some insurance companies claim its a 4 door sedan) instead of a purely sports coupe. the market of RX8 is 85% different from 350Z's; therefore you should compare it to s2K instead. we all know the charateristics of s2k, RX8 ,and 350Z, and we choose for our need.

please, try to respect other's choices. and if you really want to compare, please compare with a Mazdaspeed RX8, which is more fair in ur case.

btw, if u are mature, educated, and have some logical sense, 1 video can't do much on determining or judging which car is better.

Thank you, Z. I enjoyed the video very much, as I am currently learning Japanese.

"Z" wa totemo baka unchi des.

Also, speaking of dead last, I'll be happy to meet you at the drag strip so you can show off your superior power plant. As a matter of fact, I'll bring my Z....

28... all 400 horses of it. Then we'll see who need some tissues...

--Z--: Thanks for thinking we are pretty non-objective and lame. You couldn't have complimented us any better than you did since you lack the understanding to even know what you said. I wouldn't call us non-objective necessarily but thanks. What we are is technically oriented and we don't believe alot of the bs that is so prevalent in the auto industry. It's not because we are lame. Far from it. It is because we actually have the intelligence to know better. We've got better things to do than bench race on the internet in competitors forums and put stickers on our cars. It is people like you that make people like me look like a genious and I appreciate it! Keep posting!

Since we're comparing cars here I did notice that your little Nissan spinoff brand car in that video also didn't win. In fact your larger muscle bound beast was beaten by a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder of what is nearly half the displacement!!! Any argument in response to this fact can easily be transposed as an argument for why the RX-8 also got beat so don't try. There is always a faster car, a better driver, and a bigger ***** somewhere out there in the world. Thanks to you, we've seen all 3!!! I still may be a bigger ***** though but it's close!

Just remember there are cars out there that can make a Fairlady Z look like a $2 crackwhore. It's kind of funny how in the aftermarket performance world, the truly fast rwd Japanese sports cars are either Toyota's or Mazda's. The fast stock imports right now are awd Subaru's and Mitsu's (and they may not exist in the car industry for long). The biggest Japanese car sellers are Toyota, Honda, and Mazda. Where's Nissan? They're out marketing Tundra's and Titan's to compete against an already overly saturated market. Why do something new when you can do something old? You're basically in the same class we are when it comes to comparing the performance of our cars to others out there so there is little room to talk. The RX-8 does handle better regardless of what that video shows. You've got us in acceleration. 1 for 1. We've got you in functionality. 2 for 1. Looks is personal taste so we won't definitively make a judgement there (even though we'd win! 3 for 1).

At the end of the day what matters most, whose car is faster or how happy you are with your purchase? Adults will probably answer this differently than the training wheel rice rocket kidddies. Just remember that for the same price as a 350Z or a G35, you could have had an infinitely faster LS1 Camaro. Did I mention it also has a back seat? Does that make it a better car? Does anyone care? No and no!

Think before you post crap like this again but thanks for the vid.

Titus is talking about the flawed front suspension design on the Z that leads to feathering on the front tires. It is the subject of a HUGE amount of consternation among Z owners and the subject of an impending lawsuit.

I never bother looking into info about Z's so I did not know that. That must suck. Thank god the RX-8 suspension is so advanced and good that Mazda is going to use the same basic layout in many other cars. When you've got it right, you've got it right. When you've got it wrong, you've got court costs.

So much arrogance from Z owners...

Try to find the 'Top Gear' video where the brit Jeremy Clarkson (one of the best) tests both cars on a wet track. Cars do the same time!
That's SO BAD for the more expensive 350Z, because it is considered as a 'faster' car, but it seems that it only wins on straight line acceleration!
But hell... everyone, even my granma, can go full throttle on a straight line! :D

Oh, and something else: its so embarrasing to go head-to-head with a car that has 40-50 hp less and half the torque. Shame also on the Z's suspension and shame that some Z owners can't get their tanks full of gas. Jesus that sucks! :D

Glad you remembered us --Z--! If you'd visit more often, maybe every 6 months or so, you'd have seen that video long ago...we all have.

You're like the kid who found a new horn, just want to blow it in someones ear! :p However, we've all moved on. You still have a way to go apparently. :o

Do you really think that it would have made a difference into our buying decision if you would had shown us this video 6 months ago? Speaking for myself, and being an ex 300ZX owner for 6 years, I didn't get the RX-8 for its horsepower or max speed. I got it for its uniqueness and quality. Also, I had a even bigger reason. I wanted the option to not only seat my wife once in a while in my ride but to also seat my 3 year old girl. Some things are just more important than the results of a stupid video. Good luck with your 2 seater 350Z. Oh, I forgot, also your lots of horsepower, top speed and the other bullsh*t it comes with.

I really cant fault him for trying. Everyone wants to justify spending way too much for too little car. Oh an BTW Z I didnt happen to see an R34 skyline in that little test, or was it already done. None of us should fault any particular car brand (with a few exceptions yugo etc...) each of the major ones has made significant contributions to the go fast freaks of the world, and mazdas just happens to have taken the shape of the rotary in the 787b, which has in part descended into the wonderful Rx8. Just for reference I own an older nissan 240sx and when the suspension tuning and swap are finished next year there wont be a 350z in the state that can touch it. A note to all dont be impressed with factory numbers you can all make your own contribution to speed.

Wow RX8 got spanked in the straights, held its own and made up times in the curves, about what I expected. I admit I did expect the 8 to do better than that, although the driver probably could have pushed the car a lot harder.

The real explanation: Some people are just tools. They can't help it.

Lufa: There is a 'revenge' match, with mostly the same cars. In that video, the RX-8 spanked every car on the track. The S2000 was second.

So many replies to what seemed like someone just trying to provoke people here just for fun.

Some of the posts here seem to be of that type. Some of the responses summed up the whole discussion, and others like it about just about anything, very simply -- it all comes down to personal choice and needs.

Instead of cars, we could be talking about which supermodel is sexier. At the end of the day, all the guys would be happy with the model they chose.

Z's post did apparently stir up a hornets nest, though. Nothing wrong with blowing a little steam off once in a while.

Rotary God knows where to go for disgustingly cheap speed! Sadly the f-body was discontinued in '02. But they're coming back in '07-'09!

Also, I dug up one of one of Z's old posts I'd like to share.

"Man, I think it's great the 8 has a DVD player. That might make up for the anemic rotary they gave you."

It was in a thread entitled "RX-8 vs. 350z" This is mind, I would have to agree with Z. Look how "lame" we all are to him when he tries to make an intelligent contribution to the discussion. Shame on us. And shame on me for being so hellbent on comparison, considering different cars, discussing and weighing the options so I can come to an intelligent buying decision. What's wrong with me?! I should walk into the first dealership I see and just sign papers right? Oh and any of you who have compared the Camaro and mustang should be ashamed as well.
