Allow me to quote a sportscaster on ESPN

"Not So Fast My Friend"

Shouldn't they build a 370z killer first?

And no, the RX-8 R3 isn't it...

They should just produce both in the same chasis . One a little low in price to beat out the 370z and the other to hands down beat the **** out of a 911 gt. Oh I am dreaming

IMO Rx8 R3 is fail.

Not that much better than stock and is mostly aesthetics. Heck it fails at 0-60 and 1/4 compared to the first gen. Btw, 2nd gear goes to 102km/h... thats 63-64mph, there is no reason why it should be slower.

Dont get me wrong if I was to buy an R3 I would keep it alll stock ....and just drive it here and there u know......

But in reality people buy R3's or will buy R3's and end up modding everything out.... everything that made it an R3....

I think Mazda would be one of the best companies to make an AWD Car and keep the Weight close to 3000 lbs.

Mazda *claims* that the R3 will beat the (previous model year) Caymen around a "technical track," for whatever that's worth.

I dont mind anything as long as its sexy, curvey, redesigned, efficient (power to fuel consumption), lightweight, and has great colors to choose from.

Sounds like my kind of guy! If I could buy a street legal Furai, I'd be happier than a kid in a candy store.

More power to you, my Lotus-driving brother!

Honestly Mazda has already spent a lot of development money on the 16X anyway, its the fact they wouldn't be able to recoup their loses by releasing a car now with the whole world focused on cheap green commuters. It would also look bad for brand image considering the eco-**** mentality that has gripped people. A 1600cc rotary engine with a low-boost single ball-bearing turbo in a small frame 2-seater coupe would be absolutely amazing. With with a 2500 lb or less turboed two seater I think Mazda could get back the customer base that loved the RX-7 and expand on the people who buy the MX-5. Power wouldn't have to be huge to move a car that small very very fast. Now that I own one I can definitively say that turbo + rotary = win. A smaller, meaner pure sports car platform would be even better. I would buy one in a heartbeat.

you guys can believe that all you want, and Im sure watching this vid wont change your mind because you'll just bag on it being motor trend but this is why i brought up the cayman in the first place

I want the next rotary car t o be THAT good. I want to hear Randy say Mazda deserves a medal for the next RX and all the other good things he had to say about the MX-5. I want the MT guys to say those things about the RX and its tranny. I want to hear them say that Porsche needs to step up its game because Mazda did it better for less money.

2 years from now I want it to win that award and COTY etc etc etc

^ exactly Zoom, which is why I'll have a Cayman in 2012 if Mazda doesn't give me the 2-seat, light weight, 16x powered coupe I want.

I don't want nor need a back seat. 2-seat Cayman S is ideal for me.

your missing the point Jon. Its not about buying the Porsche. iWe're talking about the next RX- . Its about the next RX car being the kind of car they are talking about as the winner in that video. IT should be that good FOR LESS money than the cayman

The Cayman has the engine in the proper place. It is what the 911 *should* have evolved into, instead being stuck with the layout of a 1940's economy car.

Cayman and Boxster are mid-engine with 911 historically rear engine.

Now, back to the next RX, which I hope is Cayman-like, with Mazda's better bang for the buck (and of course an advanced rotary).

uh and who would that be? Nobody bought the FD. In inflation-adjusted dollars they costed as much as a C6 Z06 or an R35 GT-R...
