looks like the effects of the plant fire are finally over, now they are back to regular production capacity!
Good thing is they should still be flooding onto the lots in August making them cheap and plentiful in time for model year clearance.

Or where June RX-8 Exports were up 85% from this time last year, indicative of the fact that Mazda was cutting back production at this time last year in preparation for the changeout but this year is instead flooding an already flooded market.
The other happy rosy news for MazdaUSA is a 13% decline in Mazda3 sales, a 16% decline in Mazda6 sales, a 43% decline in RX-8 sales, a 30% decline in Miata sales, a 53% decline in MPV sales, a 32% decline in B-Series sales. The only improvement in Mazda's entire lineup was the Tribute, which was up 10% last month.

I don't think the employee pricing sales are the problem. The Miata and the 6 aren't selling because new version are coming out this year. The 8 isn't selling because all the roto heads bought one. As for the other cars, I don't have an answer.
The 8 will not start moving more units until it start putting down more power.

POWER is the key! The 6 will be the fastest car in Mazda's lineup in a couple of weeks. Why in God's name would you buy the 8?
You might as well be arguing why anyone would buy the RX-8 or 350Z or G35 or many other sports cars when they could get an STi or EVO for the same price. Different strokes.
And almost no one outside of Mazda fans knows the Mazda6 is being refreshed this year, nor would most notice the difference. And, if anything, the general consensus is that the outgoing model is far more attractive.

i thought the mazdaspeed6 did like 14.6 in the 1/4 mile and a 0-60 in like 6.1 or so. not exactly a lot faster than the 8...it would be but it weights a lot b/c of the 4 wheel drive. the mazdaspeed6 is geared more to compete with the awd acura's and what not in the luxuray dept. IMO.

I think the way mazda makes business is that they only make cars allready sold to the dealers, and the mazda3 is up 21.5% world sales, the norht america sales are only down 2.3%. the RX-8 must get a power boost for next year.

I don't know about you guys, but I think the 8 would sell a heck of a lot better if it actually got any TV time. The only add I've seen that showcases the 8 is a commercial for damn Dunlops. "An on ramp is a terrible thing to waste". You only see a short little shot of the 8 in any Mazda commercial. They ought to give the 8 it's own commercial, show it's performance off a little bit, do a stint about how a rotary works, and how far it has come, and how it produces 238 HP from 1.3L, etc. Then cap the commercial off with how Mazda is practically giving them away.....thereby give US employee pricing (damn near), and I'm sure they will move. Then again more horse power wouldn't hurt either. But it's still a great car for the money. I'm stepping down now, thank you for your time and have a good evening. :D
