Is this a scam? I get some kind of internet search page. Beware; I wouldn't click anything on that page if I were you.

Page worked for me - it will be interesting to see what the figure will be after October with all the buy backs.

It's media.mazda.com , not mazda.media.com.

According to one sales report, it looks like they've only sold about
3,551 RX's in the US.

For July and August, they sold 3,551 8s in the US. Haven't seen any updated numbers for September, but as soon as I can find a recent Automotive News (half the people in my office fight over it, so it's hard to get right away) I'll post the Sept to date and year to date figures.

last I heard....buybacks were running about 2% of total U.S. sales of the affected cars. So, figure about 60 buybacks. Someone was trying to say it was 5%, but I talked to Mazda today (checking on my debit card) and they said it was still 2%.

Even if it was 5%, that's still only 150 cars. Not enough for Mazda to worry one iota about.

I'll bet that over the last 2 1/2 months the RX8 has been out (including the slow ramp up) that Mazda has sold 6,000 RX8s (includes Sept.).

Sorry....I should have said "U.S. sales only".

I'm sure your numbers are correct worldwide, though.

No worries, seem like July was the best month for the RX8 so far,
8044 born that month. I wonder what the total will be for 2003?
4monthsx7000=28000 add 28598 my estimate is 56000.

Anyone have opinions about the apparent success of the RX-8 affecting rotary production? Will we see more rotory-powered vehicles hit the market? Will Ford allow Mazda to finally turn the world on its ear? I've waited so long for a 238hp 1.3L miata! I can almost taste it!!

Anyone know approximatly how much a crate renesis engine would run in a few years with more units sold/available??

Don't be too worried. September is traditionally slow for ANY car dealer. And as many 8's as I've seen on the road all of a sudden in the past two weeks, they seem to be flying off the lots (at least here).

Really? How many have you seen? Other than a rally we had with local owners, I still have seen only one '8 here in sunny San Diego.

In the past week, I've seen two reds, a titanium, and a blue on the road. Prior to that I've seen a silver and a green (all of these are within a 5 mile square area around where I live). A friend saw a yellow yesterday morning, someone in a coworker's apartment complex has a silver, and the same lunch break I saw the titanium and blue, my coworkers (driving the same route BACK from lunch) saw a silver and a red. And these have all been within the same area of our city.

At day-time, in my work place area, I never see any RX-8. In Menlo Park, people drive Carrera GT-2 and Mercedes E55 AMG or S-600 (the sedan with the lb/hp ratio better than the Ferrari Enzo).

I got the thumbs up from a dude in his old BMW 540 though.. he must have been from out of town, like me :-|

There's another RX-8 in San Jose, because I saw him on the highway last Sunday. That's it.
