Rx-8 "SHINKA"
looking for more info on the 2005 Mazda RX-8 shinka special edition. I know production will begin in November of 2004. there will be a limited production of only 2000 vehicles. painted in BLACK CHERRY

More than likely if it realy exists it means "Evolution" that's what the japanese word means. But, so far no official confirmation on that.

yes 9-K REVER is right, but Mazda has told there dealers it going to start production in November 2004. It helps to sell mazdas to know that. they put it on the mazda dealers web page for us to see Sep 1 2004 . the enhancements are some chassis and interior & very little to the exterior. they have not set a price yet

I too can confirm that "Shinka" is Japanese for "Evolution". I highly doubt it will make it to the US, too bad for us.

I have a good relationship with my local dealer, if it is on the dealer's intranet then I think I can get verification. But, I have been reading alot of Japanese sites and I have not heard of this. But, hey, I can't read every thing so I might have missed something. But, I don't know if a cosmetic upgrade is what the 8 needs.

Yeah, in most cases when "Evolution" is added to the name it means a performance upgrade. Such as the 1st gen M3 Evolution that was released in Europe and the Lancer Evo. But alas, we're still waiting for Mazda to come out with a turbo or supercharged Renesis. Just hope it doesn't take them as long as it did with the Miata.
They need to focus on the car's power and not looks if they want to increase their sold units.
