Yep, Mazda have tweaked the Spirit R (Show Car) for the Tokyo Auto Salon for 2012.
The 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon will be held at the Makuhari Messe Convention Center in Chiba prefecture from January 13 to 15, 2012.

This model is an expression of our further pursuit of superlative driving performance, a further evolution of the limited edition Mazda RX-8 SPIRIT R with 6-speed manual transmission. In addition to the base model's unique sporty design and dynamic performance, the model features BBS 20-inch alloy wheels, brembo brakes and rotors, and vehicle height lowered by 20mm.

Their zoom-zoom moniker is fast becoming a joke.
Every other model Mazda is still being made/sold/replaced.
Perhaps if you qualify Zoom Zoom as horse power a Mazdaspeed 3 may suit you, it has more HP than an 8.

Put a turbo in it, move the fire wall back to create some breathing space, throw some lighter 19's on it, paint it blue...
Recipe for success.
Or put some heavy rims and brakes on an underpowered car to screw the gas mileage up more... Touche Mazda!

I like the rims. I like the painted calipers. What doesn't compute about that? I don't deny that those are small revisions; but I am very detail oriented.

Those wheels are over $2000 each and made from magnesium. People saying they are heavy need to slap themselves...

Yes, I rather like the 20" wheel, and as the 19x 8.75 versions weigh a massive 7.4 kilo's (so let's say 8 kilo's tops for the 20") they're obviously way heavier than stock and will certainly slow the car down. Bring on slower driving via heavier wheel, I say.
