rx8 1.4g
I just read an article about an 8 that was pulling 1.4G's, thats pretty impressive. I cant remember what magazine it was in, only that it was a green and orange 8 like the 787b style color scheme running basically stock engine and was winning many races in its class. Anyone else happen to read the mag and know what mag it is? I believe its an european mag like speed or something like that. Very impressive though.

yeah just going with wide slicks on a stock 8 would get you pretty far up over 1g, then you dial in the suspension and sways, ect....even with the stiff chassie a cage helps, and the stiped interior gives you corerings best friend WEIGHT REDUCTION!.....before to long your aroud 1.5G
While its still cool, getting up that high on a street/grooved tire would be pretty cool.
Lots of GT class cars pull around 1.5g and the full out race cars 2.5G+ like the prototypes.
I think F1 cars can get up around 4-5G

hah, i wonder if i could pull a 1.5 on 245 front, 275 rear, "ultra high performance" tires like some neovas, and do swaybars, endlinks, f+r, 4 pt front and rear strut bars, 4 piece undercarriage brace, trunk floor brace, full coilover set, and maybe a new LSD...what do you guys think?

-Adjustable Coil-Over suspension, properly setup and corner weighted
-Sway Bars (not too big, youll lose grip)
-Good compound tires (your call....street legal or slicks....the stickyer the better)
-Get a rear upper tie bar, the stock front one (that comes with the sports suspension) should do fine
That should allow you to get a very good increase in both handling and skid pad...its important to 'tune' the ride hight and shock adjustments to fit your driving style and also get the max out of the springs, sways...ect.
The stock LSD should do fine as long as you dont get a rear wheel of the ground.
Things you could later add would be more bracing (as a stiffer chassie gives better results from your suspension components) things like bigger/stiffer front and rear Upper tie bars, under carrige braces (like the ones from AutoEXE) fill any hollow spaces (like door sills, with poly-urethane foam (did this on my miata with EXCELENT results)). Those Would make this chassies (the stiffest mazda has built into a production car) even stiffer.
You could then go 'crazy' and bolt in a 6, 12, 14 pt cage, weld the doors closed and strip out everything inside.
Weight reduction is your best friend (next to tires) when corning, and unlike other upgrades, tires and weight reduction help with all 3 things your car does (acceleration, stoping and cornering).
It all depends on 2 things, how comfortable you want the car to be to drive, and how much money you want to spend.
You could get this car to around 1.2G (IMO) for less than 3k bucks if you do the work yourself (THAT INCLUDES TIRES and WHEELS!) but it wont be comfortable to drive on the street and wouldn't be totaly pointless as a daily driver. Keeping it fun/comfortable to drive and HANDLE at a pace that race-cars of a few years ago tired to get to will cost $$$ you!
