We must be getting close to getting our cars out of captivity as the USA today ran an article today on the 8 (page 5D). Overall the article is positive, the only negative comment was in regards to the location of the dipstick and that it is virtually impossible to get to

Quick Mazda RX-8 combines class, sportiness

 

Anyone have any specifics on where this "difficult to reach" dipstick is located?

 

It's so difficult to reach the dipstick, no one has found it yet.:D

 

If I recall, you just have to remove the plastic molded Renesis center cover to get to it.

From what I recall in old threads, it's the oil filter that might be a little more difficult to get to: (depending if it's RHD or LHD)

click the link on the right side of the page next to the red rx8. it takes you to a slide show with audio commentary from the writer. he calls the nav system the best on the market and says other maufacturers should take note. among other things.

apparently, mazda HAS done, despite all odds, i suppose all the companies that previously thought "you cant do that" have to shutup, cause it seems that mazda has gone "we just did, STUPID" lol

hopefully mazda now becomes the company it was becoming before it was forced to remove the rx-7 from US shores, and somehow got lost along the path to great car-maker

Yep, the RX-8 is not a limited production vehicle like first thought. It is all out sell sell sell.

 

To put that in context:

Accords sold each year in the US: 400,000
Camarys sold each year in the US: 380,000

In other words, there will be 1 RX-8 sold for every 26 of these cars (combinded). Let alone all of the prior year models of these same cars on the road. Along with everybody else in their SUV's.

Don't worry, it will be very rare to meet another RX-8 at a stop light.
