Just watched the vid... That was truly disgusting!

I stopped by my Mazda service center the other day just to stop by, say hi and meet the new service manager. They told me not to worry about coming in till after 60K. That bothered me for some reason. It was like saying don't come see us until after your warranty is up.

The video was removed by the time I tried to watch it. I know the aftermarkt garages can't help with warranty issues, but for regular service and repairs, why would you visit a Mazda dealership? Talk to the tech who will be working on your 8, and tell him and the service writer you want the same man servicing your car everytime you come in, even if it is a simple oil change. Oh, by the way a tip (in the form of cash) might make your tech remember you, and keep you safely on the road!!

did you reallly just suggest that the way to keeping your car SAFE after a trip to the dealer is to BRIBE the service people?

I don't espouse bribery, but I am a firm believer in a good tip. You slip the tech a ten or twenty (depending on the total bill) and you KNOW that he's going to bend over backwards to do you right, and fast, next time. Works for me every time.

And he tells the other employees- they want the tip, too- so if your guy quits, the legend continues.

I found your link abbid. For the ones still looking I have it pm me, if thats cool with the mods

Jethro Tull, You know I use to do that when I first got my car. Till I got home one day only to find a ceramic coffee cup scratch on the top passanger side of my car. Its still there too. After that I had a word with the service manager. From that point on I would take my car in and they would tell me: "No wash right?" "You got it!"

It's not the best way to keep your car SAFE, but it is the best way to make sure that people never think of you as "That Jackass with the 8"

Personally, I'm of the opinion that a big box of krispy kream donuts for the entire service dept goes much farther then straight cash. Costs about the same and way more people get to enjoy it.

Hey Zoom, I'm a working man, when you goto a restaurant, do you bribe the waitress not to spit in your food??? I only bring home about $550 per week and someone buying your lunch helps out. I have a "relationship" with my customers, they have followed me to the three garages I have worked at over the past fifteen years!! Zoom, I don't work at a Mazda dealership. I work at an independent shop in Erlanger, KY. Moore later. Chris

P.S. doughnuts are not a bad idea either, the trick is to give them to one of the mechanics, not the service writer, that way we get first dibs!!!

Wow, I never actually saw the video before. But if the one link in post 612 is legit, all I can say is that Mazda execs are brain-dead.

Use a bittorrent client, like Azureus, and use the link in the first post.
