Time Attack, four-rotor, Mazda RX-8

altspace - thanks for the great pics!!!
We had a great time at the SEMA show, and it was even better when we got to start it up and drive it out - really drowned out the sound of those V8 guys hehe.
As for the sticker - if there is another RX8 4 Rotor running around on the track with video footage,, we would be more than happy to remove the sticker.
Yes this a 2009 RX8 - Mazda helped with a few parts on the car, but realisticly it has been a labor of love.
If anyone has any questions about the car we would be more than happy to answer them, you can contact us via the forum or my email is sarah@bmiracing.net

Well you should all like this...
Sarah, Adam and Jeff made the engine of our dreams with years of hard work and without hardly any factory help or parts. Everyone said it couldn't be done, so they had to build it first before any major major backing would happen...the time is at hand.
Good luck BMI Racing!

I'll throw in another question too:
In the video where you are revving the engine, there is something moving back and forth on top of the engine as the engine revs. Does that signify a variable intake?

If not then we got one more 4 rotor out there.

As you can see we also changed the throttle setup, from 4 individual throttles to one slide throttle.
Unfortunately we did not make it to the final round of Time Attack, we have been too sick to get the car prepped.

I beleive that's a water inlet or exit. Most likely this thing runs an electric water pump which is probably buried under the radiator.

That is an old video from May when we first started the car, Sven from NRS was the first person to see that video, hence why he posted it.

Whooooops----sorry about that Sarah. I have a few zillion questions. If I may:
-I see that your running both primary and secondary injectors. Do you turn off the prim at higher rpms and if so can you share that value?
-What size RC injectors?
-Lambda value targets. .92?
-I suspect that the blue lines on the pass firewall are for a hidden dry sump in the rear of the car----yes? Would it be possible to take a few more shots of the engine when fully dressed?
-Tune this with the 02 or EGT?
Thanks for sharing. Great stuff.
Ohhh----trans and differential info if you could. Thanks again.

That is most likely a slide throttle. Here is our two rotor:

- Injector size 1200cc
- You are correct on the dry sump lines, the tank is in the rear.
- Both on the 02 and EGT
- Transmission EMCO 4 speed (ex-nascar) we all have dreams about a 6 speed sequential.
- Diff - RX8 with a tomei lsd
- The black ufo looking thing is a Davies Craig Electric Water pump. We have used these for many years back in Australia on a lot of performance street cars. They are a great and simple device, that works effectively. For more information check out http://www.daviescraig.com.au

Sarah, thanks for sharing!
I had the pleasure of meeting you and seeing this car at SevenStock; simply amazing vehicle and it's obvious all of you have an enormous passion for this project.
This thing was music to my ears at SevenStock.

Thanks guys, we appreciate the support!!
It's a project that we started talking about back in Australia, and then we made the move over to the USA, in probably the worst economic climate, but, we couldn't have built it in Australia as we wouldn't have had the support from sponsors like we do here.
We had a great day at Sevenstock and always enjoy speaking to fellow rotor heads
Adam and I have spent many hours discussing, working, and making various parts for the car, somethings had even been done twice ie intake system, and changes to the exhaust. Adam did incredible work on the car, considering the budget and lack of the right equipment, we went through about 5 Harbor freight drills, and 6 Harbor freight grinders. Alot people thought that we were just plain crazy, up until we cranked the engine over for the first time.
If its ok with everyone here I would like to list the people that have supported us this year. One person is a definite and that is Sven from NRS Seals up in Canada, his products are extremely impressive to say the least, and he is a great guy to talk to as well.
I will also let you guys know when and where we take the car out to the track.
Thanks again
