Tokyo Drift RX8 in Sport Compact Car
I stopped in B&N today and read the new issue of sport compact car. They have an overview of the cars from the film, as well as a description of the modifications each car has and they test them to see how well they run. The rx8 is the friggen chick car in the film. It has the Greddy turbo and according to scc, it was running in pretty poor shape when they tested it. It threw down around 190 hp to the wheels when they dynoed it, ran a 1/4 mile in the high 14's, but they said it drifted nicely. I know most people on these boards dont care about this film but I remember someone mentioning in another thread that they wondered what was powering the rx8. I felt this was related to the media news section.
P.S. I searched to see if this was a repost but only the original tokyo drift thread came up. Also, I didnt buy the mag so i cant scan pics.

redline at 5500 ?
Sure its really crap then.
how the hell on earth that people even like that movie. The movie itself is complete bullshit, stupid storyline, and people who made the movie doesnt even know what a "good car" is.
my god.

movies are just entertainment, plus these movies are funny as crap to me anyway. I rank them among some of the other great comedies of our time, even though they're not supposed to be funny Go see this movie with the attitude of "this is just a movie" and you'll be fine, this kind of reminds me of the skatebaording boom in the 80's when movies like "rad" and "thrashin" would come out, all the real skaters knew these movies were turds, but we'd go seem them anyway for a good laugh, this is no different, just a different topic and time (then again with the prices of films these days, maybe it's better just to netflix it and laugh at home)

You know the one... "Our hero" is drag racing down a two-lane street thickly populated by parked cars and bystanders, and he's racing this gauntlet while reprogramming his engine computer on his laptop which is sitting next to him on the passenger seat.
Not to mention the drag race seems to go on for a full minute, at which time they'd have been going like 200mph (that's how fast a modded Eclipse can go, right? RIGHT??), neck-and-neck with a zillion bystanders mere feet away.
I tuned out after that point and wished I had a stack of doobies within arm's reach to make the pain in my head go away.

I know what you mean about that first scene making you laugh, but to me it was just so painfully stupid that that I couldn't even eke out a snicker. Maybe a few guffaws escaped my lips, but that was about it.
