UK CAR magazine?

Did I miss this somewhere? The rx-8 is front and centre on this one. It's the january article where they tested a hand built prototype and, as usual, raved about it

So has it already been posted by one of the UK guys?

There is a new article in Uk CAR magazine out this week, March issue where the 8 is pitched against 350Z.

The pics are of a Silver LHD car which looks great. I don't have the ability to attach the whole article. The Summary says:

"Next time someone of your acquaintance criticises the Japanese car industry for unoriginality, ask the politely who before Mazda came up with the idea of a rotary-engined sports coupe with suicide rear doors and genuine room for four. And then ask them,
if originality is such a great idea, why one should pay 25% more for an Audi TT compared with the bigger, faster and alltogether hornier Nissan 350Z.
The Japanese sports car revolution has started. If you haven't already, it's time to join the queue."

SUMS IT ALL UP FOR ME!

Here's a badly scanned pic of the silver, Cheers, Oilman

Sorry Herc I don't think they do but according to cover its available stateside for $7.95.
It's the march issue and main review is BMW Z4 vs Audi TT vs Porsche Boxster so well worth the tag.

If anyone can tell me how to scan and post in a small size may give it a go.

Cheers

Nice work guys!

So what happened to mazda's claims that it would have more grip than the 350Z?

The tires are the same shitty ones as the 350Z. Hopefully they re-think that one before it comes out. Also, they are going by Feel. A good handler can make it feel soft when you are really pulling more G's than something that feels fast but isn't really performing as well. Just my 2¢.

Sounds like a more blunt version of "faint praise."

The Nissan's styling is happy to suggest it's the real deal and the Mazda is slightly overweight and shoehorned into a too-small dress
uhhh, check your specs and get back to me buddy. You are barking at the wrong donkey there.

It's obvious this reviewer doesn't know ****. Not only that, but as his nationality would suggest, he's pretentious as hell. This article was clearly concerned with style over substance as evidenced in the ridiculous comment that the Z looked svelte compared to the 8. It's a 300 pound difference, give your head a shake!

I think he was giving his head a shake while he was writing that review.

Comon now guys.. just be patient and wait for more reviews

If we judged every car by one review I'd be looking at a Ford Thunderbird :p

Perhaps I'm wrong, but the way I read the article, I took him to mean that the styling of the 8 made it look like a fat chick in a tight dress. I don't think he was actually trying to say that the RX-8 weighed more than the Z... he was just commenting on the way the car looks. Not that I agree with him, but I think that's what he was trying to say.

But the thing I found really interesting was a couple of comments about torque:

About the RX-8
Good low-down torque becomes a strong (if less than exponential) top end...
About the 350Z
The Nissan's 287bhp 3.5-litre V6 engine lacks much in the way of low-down torque, and tall gearing makes the motor work hard for serious progress.
I think this is great. Somebody actually judged the car based on feel and didn't let the torque "on paper" prejudice his observation. Hopefully the buying public will be just as objective when evaluating the RX-8.

remember the other reviewer that said it was stretched tight like a wet tshirt? same thing. although i think i like the wet t-shirt better:D as much rear soace as the 330 which is what i have been saying since i started on the board. and he says that both cars are exceptional but different and hence shouldn't be compared. which is what many of us have been saying all along, except maybe herc and droidekaus :p thats a joke fellas not an invite to another flaming session

Didnt someone say it was a review that raved about the 8?

and its as if hes got the cars mixed up, saying the 8 is fat, what the hell lol

when the German dude said it felt like a wet t-shirt, i think he meant it was stretched tight. And felt tightly wrapped in it as well.

wake up

frankly i dont care what this retarder reviewer has to say, the 8 looks better, is lighter, has a higher redline( its roatry what do u expect), and once done up with all the gear, i'd bet my girlfriend ittl be a better chick magnet.

besised the good looks, the 8 has only slight power disadvantage, and a huge wieght advantage, even if it "Rolls" who cares, its not even properly lowered and OBVIOUSLY wont reflect its true ability,

Saw it also. Sounds like a Maytag/GE appliance critic instead of a true performance car enthusiast. He should stick to practical utility stroller and diaper-bag hauling vehicles like SUV's and "mommie-vans". :D

Hmmm...

Look where I'm from and imagine how insulted I feel. A case of 'shooting the messenger' I think (or is that too pretentious for you?).
