Washington Times hits below the belt.
This article by the Washington Times opens up with the bold assertion "Mazda says it will buy back most of the 3,551 RX-8 rotary-engine sports cars sold since July."
The same USA-Today article they reference says 31 owners have taken Mazda up on the buyback (to date, I imagine.)
Why don't we stress-test their mailserver? Allready sent 'em mine. letters@washingtontimes.com.

Sent to Washington Times..
Just two questions.. Are you claiming that Mazda is the source of this information? They sent out the letters to all RX-8 owners - I received mine on September 3rd. The majority of the RX-8 community are opting to keep the car and take the generous offer of free maintenance and $500. My source, http://www.rx8forum.com, shows that many owners are planning to wait for a few weeks before returning their responses. So.. How can you or Mazda determine that MOST of us will return our incredible cars?

these are not automotive journalists. as such, they are complete idiots when it comes to cars and such. i have lost most confidence for news (infotainment) reporters anyway. i say we do stress-test their email server =)

Reporters just state what will sell the article.
Reporters always distort the truth.
And I would be careful about taking about doing a stress test with their server. With all the trouble people are getting into lately. Even a joke can be taken out of context (As reporters do) by the FBI.

Maybe they ment Mazda would buy back most of the RX-8's that were actually brought back to them, which is a small number. Which would imply Mazda would refuse buyback to select owners (in the case of an accident or something).
