That kit looks very nice dude. I got rid of my K&N because it was draining all my low-end power.
I wouldn't mind giving one of these HKS kits a try tho. BTW I really dig the honeycomb filter!TxRx8

Very nice Mod, but O dear that’s such crap. Notice how the baseline run is number .006 and the final one is .020.

Thats 14 runs on the dyno in-between the time they did the stock run. Now i personally have done a lot of dynoing with the Canzoomer unit etc..... see my July Rxtuner article.

And after 20 runs in one session you’re going to find more horsepower, it’s called race-breaking or race-tuning the engine.
Basically what happens is 1 a lot of the carbons start burning off the plugs as well as inside the housing. And 2 fuel begins to combust more efficiently.
It’s not at all odd to gain 15HP after 20runs runs on the dyno when your engine is piping hot.

If Hymee is watching he'll gladly back me up.
I'll still gladly host o0oCrazyPoLaKo0o on AIM.

Good point on the number of dyno runs, polak.

As long as it's not over 3MB, I can host it. email:adrian-1@***-internet.com

polak, your insight seems contrary to what ive seen before. dosen't the car begin to dyno with less and less HP as heat soak begins to set in? after 15-20 full throttle runs on the dyno the engine should be putting down way less power than it ought to. there is no air to run thru the engine/cooling system, so wouldnt it tend to make less power?

you also have to understand that the dyno run that was shown is an average run. There were even higher hp figures than shown..but they decided just to show the average run.

Figures!!! what i dont get is why it costs more and is actually less material as it reuses part of the stock intake tubing. But i guess you pay more for the name than anything else.

Polak is correct in what he says. We found 9 HP just from the car getting really, really hot on the dyno. We thought we got 20 HP out of our tune, but when we re-ran the baseline tune it had gone up by 9, so our tuning efforts was only really worth an honest 11.

Now we have a new PCM tune, we have to start over.

Cheers,
Hymee.

as far as the heatshield goes...it works very well. There is a noticeable difference in temperature from the inside of the box vs. the outside.
