1/2 Mile drag helmet cam
From the Texas 1/2 Mile this Saturday. I only did one run, as this is my daily driver and I was underwhelmed with the experience. I knew it wouldn't put up big numbers, but the thrill of racing it in a straight line was just.... meh. Track days at the curvy places sounds much better :D
Skip to about 3:00 in, I intend to edit it eventually, but for now:

Your impression is about the same I've gotten. Straight line speed can be an adrenaline rush, but it isn't "fun".
And the speed slip will be more accurate. On the stock size tire, the speedo is slightly over the actual speed. Changing the tire / wheel size can move this around, from dead on to underspeed or quite a bit overspeed.

Cornering is where this machine excels and it hasn't gotten old yet. I can't seem to go fast enough to get to that next corner.

It was definitely fun, no doubt, but I guess it just wasn't fast enough to make it truly exhilarating. I'm sure crossing that line at 150+ would be pretty sweet though, and there were quite a few cars that did that. The best of the day was 212 out of Hennessey's ford GT that holds the record in the Texas mile also. That thing is ridiculous.

That second 1/4 mile goes by pretty quick, but I'm guessing you'd hit 130-140 in the 1/2 with a 1/4 speed of that.

Now that I think about it, I may have. I remember turning it off, but then I shut the engine off for a bit while we were waiting for things to get into place. I don't know for sure if I shut it back off after the restart or not. Looking at the video, I can't tell if the dsc lights are on or not.
I'll check the original video, it may be clearer there.

Yeah, it was off. If you look at around 10 seconds into the video, I dip my head far enough down whe you can see the "sliding car" light on the tach. So that terrible launch was all me.
I'm pretty sure I could have hit closer to 120 if my launch was better, but I didn't want to kill my clutch trying to get it right.
