If I was bashing other cars, so be it. I was giving an honest opinion of the cars. I favor the RX-8 over them and that's what I bought. Just be glad I'm not in the business of car reviews. About Freddy, I was wrong about that. I think now that he would probably want to be a Ford or a Chevy - nothing imported. I don't know what got into me.

When did I bash the WRX? I posted the pictures, I said I liked them both!!!! I simply stated I would take the 8 over the STi, how is that bashing?

Hostility? No...I don't see hostility. Prideful? Yes! What I do see is some overly sensitive people that own different cars who come here to try to tell RX8 owners why other car choices are somehow better.
I agree with Racer....trying to compare the "winged" EVO with the tonka toy interior to the flowing lines of the RX8 with its ergonomic, carefully assembled and purposeful interior is like trying to compare a big mac to filet mignon...yes, both are supposed to be in the beef family, but one is a cheap concotion smothered in stuff to hide its shortcomings that you can get at the drive thru while the other is a robust and sensual taste sensation that is savored.

There seems to be a consistent theme here where the rally-inspired cars are somehow modern day muscle cars that offer nothing more than drag-racing ability. Nothing could be further from the truth, as they are known as top-notch drivers cars.
As for "us coming here and telling you our car is better" is not true in this thread. The post celebrated two new, and exciting cars. A bunch of people jumped all over the STI (which I don't own and did not cross-shop when I was looking BTW) and it seems people are slamming it in a defensive way. And if you are going to slam it, please do so in a substantive manner. "It looks like crap" sounds like an elementary school argument about Huffy bicycles.

Bias is human nature, not everyone opinions are hostile, so you guys should not take it as such. Most people will be defensive of their own things, even if there are better things, its just human nature. I mean if i ever had a (god forbid) a civic or something, i'll probably defend it (YEAH RIGHT!)
Anyone who has been in an STi know they are crazy. Power can take you far, but everyone seems to have a WRX nowadays, this make them less desirable. I really don't like WRX designs, but the STi makes it a lot rounder, the front looks a lot better not. The scoop and wing are totally crazy, built in RICE!!! The back is still way to plain.

While I would agree that there are quite a few people that are militant RX-8 buffs, i would have to point out that most reviews I've read have stated that, while the STi and the Evo both have insane power, and are incredibly fun to drive, they lack a certain style, and end up being attractive to (not trying to generalize) the Fast and the Furious crowd. I love the EVO, and drive my buddies every chance he'd give me, but i don't think I'd own one. Basically, when I scream off a line in it, it is soooo much fun... The Evo is great for this... but as soon as I slow down, I'm sitting in a Lancer again... just lacks some, well, like others have said, pimp factor... When I'm racing around corners in my 8, it is equally as fun, but when i stop, it's still an 8... not an econobox... again, I hate sounding like i'm generalizing, and i mean no offense to anyone, I just felt that some of the comments on the STi's appearances weren't completely unfounded...
P.S. That spoiler is WAY too big.. :D

The Rx8 and the WRX/STI and two different cars.
Can you really see the RX8 as I rally car?
I think they both look good. But the RX8 looks and feels better for me, and thats why i got one on the driveway.
Regardless..... they're both awesome machines

Well, OK, you can go on. But you've really said it perfectly here, especially the part about when you slow down. Perfect!

Great to see two awesome cars side by side
Im trading my Black 2002 STi (Bugeye version that you guys didnt get) for my Velocity Red RX-8 when it hopefully arrives in 4 weeks.
Im really looking forward to getting the 8, but I know in some ways I will miss the STi as well.
