25 pics from Homestead Miami Speedway race
DSR (Down South Rotary) Car Club was invited to attend the latest race at Homestead Miami Speedway, both to spectate and take a parade lap. Although we all arrived too late for the parade lap, the event was well worth the trip.
Outside tempuratures were in the 90*s, and even in the shade it was 80*+. That was untill the storm rolled in. You'll see in the pictures that the quality of weather and light deteriorates rather quickly, finally cooling things down a bit.
So without further delay, here are my 25 favorate (not necessarily the BEST) pictures from the event. Pardon my shotty photography, I brought the wrong lense.
The invite-spectator parking lot, lots of nice old school rides and a few new ones.
The DSR members holding it down on the Rotary tip.
A legend of automotive achievement...
One NASTY little vette
And some 33" wide tires to put all that power down
One of the many race-built NA Miatas coming off the trailer
The RX-7 chaser
RWD Focus??? Believe it, and it hauls ***.
This car doesnt just set the pace, it could run in the race!
More pictures to come in a moment!

Most of the Mazdas in the field getting ready to race
The starting grid... everything from Porsches and Ferraris to Civics and MKII VWs
Wait... whats that behind that Porsche? (last lap before that storm rolled in)
And in a matter of 5 minutes, this is what was hanging over us
Conditions kept getting worse...
And worse...
Is that a f-430 comming around the corner?
Id say yes for sure but the damn thing is a blur!
Miata battle action-shot
A nice FB comming into the front straight-away
That yellow car HAULED *** in the straights, not so good in the corners though
One FB in the field for good measure
Miata in action
Heading up the front straight
My favorate shot of the day, wish the light would have been better though.
And the icing on the cake, the creme de la creme, the cherry on top...
Yes, ladies and gentlemen... That IS a segway with custom painted fenders and 20" spinners. And I thought I'd seen it all.
All in all it was a fun time, despite the heat and lack of shadey areas. The day did, however, end on a sour note.
My buddy Phil, who drives the gorgeous FD pictured above, lost traction and slid into a gaurd rail on the Turnpike heading back home, caused by that nasty storm we saw comming. Thankfully, he came out of it just fine, but his gorgeous copper 3rd gen. is in sad shape. Hopefully there is no frame/suspension damage, but its a horrible shame.
So thats it! Comments and critiques of the photos are welcome. Tell me what you guys think. Hope you enjoy the pictures!
